It was a stunning season for champions Atletico Madrid, who had a commanding lead at the top of the table at the turn of the year before the chasing pack put them under pressure.

Diego Simeone’s men showed true champion spirit when it mattered, winning four of their last five league games to clinch their 11th league title. 

For striker Luiz Suarez, it was also a personal triumph. Having been let go by Barcelona last summer, he led Atleti’s charge by banging in 21 goals in 32 games.
