Fans can cheer Everton to safety

Alan Shearer believes the Everton faithful can roar Frank Lampard's men to safety. 

Following back-to-back wins over Chelsea and Leicester, the Toffees are a point clear of relegations rivals Leeds and Burnley in the battle to remain in the Premier League.

And with a game in hand over both sides, Shearer is confident the Merseysiders can beat the drop — providing the fans and players continue to work in tandem. 

Writing in his BBC Sport column, the Newcastle and England legend said: "Sometimes it is the fans who get their side going with the noise they make, or vice versa because of what they see happening on the pitch. 

"This time, with Everton's performance [against Leicester], the two seemed to go hand in hand. 

"They kept responding to each other and the Everton players dug in and held out to complete what was a great few days for them — especially with Burnley and Leeds being beaten at the weekend.

"Everton's situation looked extremely bleak before they played Chelsea on May 1, when they were five points adrift of safety. 

"Two games and two wins later, their hopes of staying in the Premier League look a lot more positive now.

"They are still only a point clear of third-bottom Leeds, so it is not the time to be patting each other on the back just yet. But with four games to go, the most important thing is that their fate is in their own hands."

Moyes wants more Euro action

David Moyes is desperate for West Ham to earn another crack at European glory.

The Hammers were within touching distance of this season's Europa League final but not could overcome Eintracht Frankfurt in the semis. 

And Moyes wants his players to redouble their efforts to overtake Manchester United, who currently occupy the Premier League's final Europa League spot by virtue of sitting sixth in the table. 

Speaking after his side's 4-0 win at Norwich, the 59-year-old Scot said: "We are desperate to get back into Europe. We've had an unbelievable experience. 

"It isn't something West Ham have had regularly and not for a long time. The supporters enjoyed it and we had a great trip. 

"We are trying to get into the Europa League or Europa Conference League."

The title race is still alive

David James believes there may be more twists and turns to come in the Premier League title race. 

Liverpool lost ground on champions Manchester City at the weekend after being held to a 1-1 draw by Tottenham. 

But with three games left to play, former England keeper James still believes either of his old sides could lift the trophy. 

He said: "I think this is the true test of the game-by-game mantra that Jurgen Klopp has been saying for a month — that they are not after a Quadruple and that they will win every game they can. 

"I don't think there will be too much disappointment. They were always behind City in one sense but it's a true test now.

"Steven Gerrard could do Liverpool a massive favour as Aston Villa play City on the final day. It is still not over."

Here comes Bobby

Roberto Firmino is ready to rejoin Liverpool's Quadruple bid after recovering from a foot injury. 

The Brazilian, 30, was hurt during the FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City last month and has sat out his side's last six games. 

But Klopp has confirmed he could feature against Aston Villa at Villa Park tomorrow night. 

He said: "Bobby trained before the last game [for] two days. We don’t train a lot so he always has to do more, that is what he is still doing.

"He gets closer and closer and closer. Hopefully he can be involved [tomorrow]."

Make mine a cuppa

Emma Hayes celebrated guiding Chelsea to their third successive Women's Super League with a cup of TEA. 

Hayes was delighted to see the Blues beat Manchester United 4-2 yesterday to seal their triumph — but she is already looking forward to a well-earned break at the end of the season.

The Blues boss, 45, said: "I'm really, really relieved, exhausted from a really tight season. 

"I was so glad to come home, have a cup of tea, get an early night and take my son to school this morning without a banging hangover! Gone are those days! 

"We've got the FA Cup final on Sunday so I think I will celebrate the end of the season then. As we age you can't carry a hangover through the week and I don't want one."

Hayes, who has now led the Blues to six WSL titles, added: "I love being part of the team and we’ve all got an important role to play. 

"Mine is to make decisions on a daily basis and most importantly during the games. That’s where I feel I’m most alive as a coach. 

"I’m just grateful to be given the opportunity to represent the club and a great group of players."

Hitting the right note

Singer-songwriter Camila Cabello will perform at the Champions League final opening ceremony on May 28. 

Known for hits including Bam Bam, Senorita and Havana, the Cuban-American star is set to appear minutes before Liverpool and Real Madrid kick off at the Stade de France. 

Cabello, 25, said: "I'm so excited to be taking to the stage at the Champions League final. 

"I intend on putting on a really special show, bringing together the spirit of my Latin heritage and a feeling of togetherness for sports and music fans all over the world. I can't wait!"
