- Leicester have won seven of their 13 home Championship matches without conceding
- Ipswich have won just one of their last six second-tier outings
- Recommended bet: Leicester to win

Leicester are in a commanding position to make an immediate return to the Premier League, but they will be looking to avoid a second straight slip-up against fellow title hopefuls Ipswich on Monday night.

The Foxes need to recover from a 3-1 defeat at in-form Coventry in their last Championship outing, while the Tractor Boys will see this clash as a great chance to boost their own top-two credentials.

Team news

Leicester’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is struggling with a knock he picked up in the loss at Coventry while Abdul Fatawu is suspended after his red card in that game.

Patson Daka, Kelechi Iheanacho and Harry Souttar are all on international duty, but hopes are high that Jamie Vardy could be involved.

Ipswich will be without George Hirst, who has a hamstring injury, and midfielder Sam Morsy, who serves the second match of a two-game ban after picking up 10 yellow cards.

Meanwhile, Cameron Burgess and Elkan Baggott are both at the Asian Cup.

Eight of Leicester’s last 10 matches in all competitions have featured at least three goals.

Leicester have won seven of their 13 home league games this season without conceding.

Just 15 of Ipswich’s 50 league goals this season have come away from Portman Road.

Both teams have scored in just four of Leicester’s 13 league games at King Power Stadium this season.

Ipswich have won just one of their last six Championship matches.

Prediction

Leicester were rocked by their surprise relegation from the Premier League last season but things could not have gone better as they have established themselves as the best team in the second tier in the first half of the Championship campaign.

They have the potential to increase their lead at the top of the table to 10 points with a win over promotion rivals Ipswich, who have seen their cushion in the second automatic slot closed by in-form Southampton following their 3-1 win at Swansea on Saturday.

While Leicester are in a comfortable position under Enzo Maresca, there were still warning signs in their last game when they were beaten 3-1 at Coventry, who themselves will be harbouring hopes of going up after some strong results under Mark Robins.

But the Foxes should be supported here as they have scored 14 goals in their last four home league matches and, perhaps more importantly, have kept seven clean sheets in their last 10 matches at the King Power.

Ipswich tend to be strong at their Suffolk base but they have not been great on the road and could still be licking their wounds from the 4-0 humbling they suffered in their last away game against Leeds, another promotion rival.

They needed an injury-time goal from Sam Morsy, who is suspended for this fixture, to grab a point in their home game against Leicester on Boxing Day and there have to be severe doubts that they will claim anything from the return match.
