Kieran McKenna will be looking to get Ipswich's promotion push back on track

- Ipswich have won their last five home games, scoring 19 goals in the process
- Watford have little left to play for as they sit in mid-table
- Recommended bet:
Ipswich to win and over 3.5 match goals

Ipswich saw their automatic promotion hopes dented by East Anglian rivals Norwich at Carrow Road at the weekend but their top two hopes remain in their hands.

The Tractor Boys will be looking for a response and a sixth consecutive home victory when Watford visit Portman Road on Wednesday.

The Hornets sit in 14th spot in the table and have little left to play for, with relegation no longer a realistic concern and the top six out of reach.

Team news

With the games coming thick and fast, Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna could be tempted to freshen up his side after seeing a three-game winning run ended at Norwich.

Harry Clarke, Jeremy Sarmiento and Ali Al-Hamadi are among those pushing for recalls.

Watford have no fresh injury or suspension concerns and caretaker boss Tom Cleverley could stick with the same side that played out a 0-0 draw with Preston last time out, although he does have options including Ismael Kone and Mileta Rajovic.

The stats

Ipswich have won each of their last five home games.

Over 3.5 goals has been a winning bet in Ipswich's last seven games at Portman Road.

Watford have three defeats in their last six away from Vicarage Road.

The Tractor Boys won the reverse fixture 2-1 and have won 15 out of 20 home Championship games this season

Prediction

Tom Cleverley is unbeaten during his caretaker spell in charge at Watford

Ipswich slipped to a potentially damaging defeat at fierce rivals Norwich last time out, ending a three-game winning run, but they can make the most of home advantage when they take on Watford in midweek.

The Hornets have little left to play for with their promotion hopes long gone and relegation, although mathematically possible, unrealistic.

They look to be meandering towards a mid-table finish with caretaker manager Cleverley in charge, although they are unbeaten in the 34-year-old's four games in charge so far (W1, D3).

However, Ipswich are a force at Portman Road and they have won each of their last five at this venue, with 15 wins and just one loss after 20 Championship home games so far.

A home win is expected and to boost the price backing Ipswich to prevail in a game with over 3.5 goals appeals here.

Ipswich have won and at least four goals have been scored in each of their last five home wins and they have hit an impressive 19 goals themselves during that run.

Watford have lost two of their last five league trips but have scored in four of those games, so they can add to the goals tally here as well in defeat.
