- Ipswich have only lost one of their 19 home games this season
- Southampton have lost four of their last eight matches in all competitions
- Recommended bet: Ipswich to win

Ipswich have been rock solid at home this season, with a record of 14 wins, four draws and a defeat from their 19 appearances at Portman Road.

Southampton have been strong too this season and currently sit ten points behind these league leading opponents with two games in hand.

The Saints need to turn around their recent drop off in form however, as they have lost four of their last eight games in all competitions.

Team news

Wes Burns and George Hirst are expected to miss out for Ipswich but they will be able to call upon the services of Lewis Travis, who had to miss their last game against Blackburn as they are his parent club.

Omari Hutchinson is also a doubt after limping off with an injury against Rovers on Good Friday.

Ross Stewart and Juan Larios remain long-term absentees for Southampton and will miss this clash as a result.

Jan Bednarek, Ryan Fraser, David Brooks and Kyle Walker-Peters are all working their way back to fitness and should play at least some role.

The stats

Ipswich have been in rock solid form recently, winning eight of their last nine games in the Championship.

No team has scored more Championship goals this season than the Tractor Boys’ 81 in 39 games and they have won and both teams have scored in four of their last six outings.

Southampton have kept only one clean sheet in their last nine matches and that could leave them vulnerable against the top scorers in the division.

Russell Martin certainly won't have given up hopes of Southampton getting back into the top two.

Prediction

Ipswich have been one of the most exciting teams to watch in the Championship this season and their recent strong performances have perfectly coincided with Leicester faltering at the top of the table.

The Tractor Boys could press home their advantage at the top of the table with a win over a Southampton team that have struggled defensively this season.

The Saints have failed to keep a clean sheet in eight of their last nine games and that may be an issue against the highest scorers at this level.

Four defeats from their last eight games is not ideal and the visiting team may fall to another defeat here.
