Kieran McKenna has his Ipswich side in sparkling form after five consecutive Championship wins.

- Ipswich has lost only one of their 17 home Championship matches this season
- No second-tier side has scored more than Ipswich’s 44 home league goals this term
- Recommended bet:
Ipswich & over 2.5 goals

The gap at the top of the Championship table between Leicester and Ipswich was down to only three points going into the midweek fixtures and the Tractor Boys will be looking to keep the heat on the league leaders when they host Bristol City on Tuesday.

Team news

Long-term absentee Janoi Donacien is still on the sidelines for Town, but Jack Taylor was back on the bench at the weekend.

Attacking duo Wes Burns and Nathan Broadhead are both likely to miss out.

Scott Twine was due to resume first-team training on Monday, but the trip to Portman Road is likely to come too soon for the midfielder. George Tanner has been ruled out of Tuesday’s match, while Matty James is likely to miss a third straight game and Kal Naismith may not be rushed into a return.

The stats

Ipswich have lost only one of their 17 home Championship matches this season and no second-tier side has scored more than Town’s 44 home league goals this term.

Seven of Ipswich’s last eight matches have gone over 2.5 goals and they have scored in all but one of their 21 home matches this season.

Bristol City have kept only one clean sheet in their last 11 away games.

Prediction

Leicester looked to have the Championship crown and promotion sewn up, but there are now only eight points covering the Foxes at the top of the table and Southampton in fourth and the battle for the second-tier title appears to be a four-team race.

Ipswich are only three points behind the Foxes and Kieran McKenna’s men have put together a five-match winning run.

The Suffolk side have scored 15 goals on that impressive winning streak, and although fixtures against Millwall, Rotherham, Plymouth, Swansea and Birmingham have been pretty kind, Bristol City haven’t been near their peak in recent weeks.

The Robins have lost three matches on the bounce, they have won only two of their last ten fixtures and there have been pretty demoralising Ashton Gate defeats to QPR and Cardiff mixed in.

Ipswich are likely to be without Wes Burns and Nathan Broadhead on Tuesday night, but no second-tier side has scored more home league goals than the Suffolk men this season and the Robins have kept only one clean sheet in their last 11 away games.

McKenna’s men should be too strong at Portman Road and backing an Ipswich victory and over 2.5 goals in the game can boost the price of an entertaining home victory.
