Simone Inzaghi's Inter Milan have home advantage for Wednesday's first leg against Porto

- Inter Milan have won four of their last five games, drawing the other
- Porto are on a 10-game winning streak in all competitions
- Recommended bet: Inter Milan to Win to Zero

Inter Milan and Porto both find themselves in strong form as they prepare to meet in their Champions League last-16 first leg at the San Siro on Wednesday.

With Napoli 15 points clear at the top of the Serie A standings, Inter can afford to place greater focus on getting things right in the Champions League.

Porto have enjoyed their own outstanding form but, with a host of injury issues, they will be up against it at the San Siro.

Team news

Starting with the hosts, manager Simone Inzaghi has the luxury of a fully fit squad for Wednesday, barring the exception of Joaquin Correa.

Andre Onana, Hakan Calhanoglu and Milan Skriniar were all handed deserved rests at the weekend as Inter ran out 3-1 winners against Udinese in Serie A and are expected to return to the starting XI.

Inzaghi does have a decision to make on who will head up his 3-5-2 formation, with Lautaro Martinez, Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaka all vying for the two starting roles.

As for Porto, manager Sergio Conceicao, who previously played for Inter, has been forced to deal with an injury crisis ahead of this week's trip to Italy.

Evanilson, Fabio Cardoso, Gabriel Veron and Francisco Meixedo are out, while there are also doubts regarding the fitness of both Mateus Uribe and Galeno.

Toni Martinez picked up a knock at the weekend after scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory against Rio Ave and faces a race against time to be fit for Wednesday.

The stats

Inter have shown a significant improvement in defence recently, conceding just once in their last four outings in all competitions.

The Nerazzurri have also won 1-0 in two of their last three home games.

Inzaghi's side have suffered just one defeat in their last 11 games, but they welcome a Porto side also impressing with their results over recent months.

Porto are unbeaten in their last 22 matches in all competitions and are on a 10-match winning streak ahead of their trip to Lombardy.

Prediction

Considering the injuries facing Porto, it is hard to see the Portuguese giants taking an advantage into the last-16 second leg, which takes place at the Estadio do Dragao on March 14.

Porto have been in impressive form but a trip to Inter will be a step up from the domestic success they have enjoyed at the start of the year.

With Inter conceding just one goal in their last four games, the Nerazzurri's defence has shown significant progress this month and should be able to shut out the visitors on Wednesday night.
