Hull boss Liam Rosenior will be aiming for a fourth win in a row against West Brom
  • Hull have won their last three games

  • West Brom have won only five of their 16 Championship away matches

  • Recommended bet: Hull to win by one goal

Hull and West Brom meet on Saturday in a clash that could prove critical to each team's respective Championship promotion hopes.

Hull beat Southampton on Tuesday, winning by a 2-1 scoreline for the third game in a row. All of those have been away from home and they lost their last match at the MKM Stadium 1-0 to Swansea.

West Brom also won on the road on Tuesday, triumphing 3-0 at Plymouth but have been a mixed bag away from home this season and could be there for the taking.

A win for either side on Saturday would be a statement as the play-off race hots up and the newly-confident Tigers might prove too much for their visitors.

Team news

Hull remain without striker Liam Delap, who is expected to be sidelined until mid-April with a knee injury.

Midfielder Tyler Morton is also out with an ankle issue but should return next month.

Wset Brom strikers Daryl Dike (Achilles) and Josh Maja (ankle) are both expected to be out until late April.

Winger Matt Phillips has a similar prognosis with a hamstring issue, while Kyle Bartley still faces a week or so out with a calf problem.

The stats

Hull have won only seven of their 16 Championship home games this season. In contrast, they have won nine of their 17 away matches.

The Tigers' last eight games have all been decided by a single goal.

West Brom have won just five of their 16 away games in the league in 2023-24.

They had lost three away matches without scoring prior to drawing 2-2 at Ipswich and then beating Plymouth.

The Baggies have won seven of the pair's last eight meetings, most recently winning November's reverse game at The Hawthorns 3-1.

Predictions

As of writing, and depending on seventh-placed Coventry's game against Preston on Friday, West Brom head to the MKM Stadium sat fifth in the Championship, a point and a place ahead of their hosts.

The Baggies' progress this season has been built on their home form and they have been frustrating on the road.

It has been a similar story at home for Hull, but this feels like a real chance for the Tigers to move above the Baggies in the promotion race.

History is on West Brom's side, with their recent record in this fixture undoubtedly impressive but despite their draw at Ipwwich and win at Plymouth, their inconsistency on the road makes them hard to trust.

Liam Rosenior's side have been in and around the play-off places this season and their three wins in a row suggest they are now really clicking.

A home victory on Saturday would worry their rivals and they might just edge it.
