Doncaster hosts the Virgin Bet Afternoon Racing card on Thursday, with seven races coming from Town Moor.

The jumps action begins at 1.05pm and runs through to the finale at 4.33pm and our racing expert has been looking through the card to provide the selections.

1.05pm - Virgin Bet Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle (2m½f)

HALF THE FREEDOM got off the mark over this C&D last month for trainer Jonjo O'Neill. He did it nicely, scoring in a large field of 17 runners. The handicapper has put him up 5lb for that success, but it may not be enough to prevent him from repeating his victory here.

Claimer Jamie Brace takes 6lb off his back, which makes him 1lb better off than his last appearance.

Racing Post selection: Half The Freedom @ 2/1

1.40pm - Virgin Bet Best Odds Daily Juvenile Maiden Hurdle (2m½f)

A number of the runners in this juvenile contest are making their debuts on the track. Harry Fry's hurdler, ACHNAMARA, is fortunate to already have had a run.

The three-time Flat winner was disappointing on his opening start over hurdles at Fontwell. He will have learned a lot from that experience, and with more schooling since then, expect a better performance.

Racing Post selection: Achnamara @ 15/8

2.15pm - Virgin Bet Daily Extra Place Handicap Chase (3m)

ELLEON has had four appearances over fences this season, and although he remains a maiden, he has come close to success.

He finished second of seven runners at Sedgefield (3m3f) back in December, while last month, he was denied by just a short head over the same C&D after being collared late on.

The eight-year-old is dropping down in distance here which looks like a more suitable trip.

Racing Post selection: Elleon @ 5/2

2.50pm - Virgin Bet Handicap Hurdle (3m½f)

Donald McCain looks to have a solid contender in the 2.50pm
Donald McCain looks to have a solid contender in the 2.50pm

SILVER FLYER and Docpickedme are both coming into this handicap hurdle on the back of success. The former has the best chance of following up over this winning C&D.

He has just a 4lb rise in the weights to defy, but there looks to be a lot more to come from Donald McCain's hurdler.

Racing Post selection: Silver Flyer @ 6/1

3.25pm - Virgin Bet Price Boost Novices' Hurdle (2m½f)

HULLNBACK built on a promising debut at Chepstow (2m) to score at Haydock on his second appearance over hurdles.

Fergal O'Brien's novice will need to carry a penalty in this race as a winner, but he sets the standard, and he looks like a smart prospect for the future.

Racing Post selection: Hullnback @ 2/13

4.00pm - Virgin Bet Fives Handicap Chase (2m4½f)

HEREOIQUE DE MAULDE was successful twice over fences before moving to the UK to be looked after by James Ewart.

He has hit the frame on his two appearances since then, including when he was denied by a short head on his debut at Newcastle.

This is his first outing since having a wind-op and that procedure should ensure he sees out his races better now.

Racing Post selection: Hereoique De Maulde @ 2/1

4.33pm - Virgin Bet Fives Mares' Handicap Hurdle (2m3½f)

QUEENS ROCK opened her account with success over hurdles at Southwell (2m). The seven Barrows runner was unable to add to her account at Wetherby where she faded in the closing stages.

She has since had wind surgery, which explains her below-par performance. The mare can bounce back with a big run here.

Racing Post selection: Queens Rock @ 5/6
