Draw and Both Teams to Score

Saturday afternoon sees Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton looking to put the disappointment of their midweek FA Cup defeat behind them as they travel to the capital to take on Marco Silva’s Fulham.

The Seagulls were unable to match their impressive run to the semi-finals of the FA Cup last season as an early Mario Lemina strike earned Wolves victory in their round of 16 tie on Wednesday.

They will look to bounce back at Craven Cottage, where they have not always had much joy, but a slight dip in home form for Fulham may allow Albion to come away from London with a point.

Team news

Marco Silva will be without at least two key players on Saturday, with Joao Palhinha suspended after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season and joining the injured Raul Jimenez on the sidelines.

There will also be late checks on the fitness of Harrison Reed and Willian, who are nursing head and thigh injuries respectively, while last weekend’s matchwinner at Old Trafford Alex Iwobi is expected to keep his starting place.

Roberto De Zerbi’s squad is missing a multitude of key members through injury, with Jack Hinshelwood, Joao Pedro, James Milner, Solly March and Kaoru Mitoma all expected to be absent.

Billy Gilmour is suspended, while there are doubts regarding the fitness of Joel Veltman, Tariq Lamptey and Evan Ferguson.

However, recent cameo appearances from Julio Enciso look promising as he looks to return to full fitness and the young Paraguayan could feature once again.

The stats

Fulham have picked up over 68% of their total league points tally at Craven Cottage, but have only won two of their last six games at home in all competitions.

Each of Fulham’s last four Premier League games has seen both sides find the back of the net.

The same can be said for three of Brighton’s last four league fixtures.

The Seagulls are yet to win a Premier League fixture at Craven Cottage, with their last victory coming when both sides were in the Championship.

Roberto De Zerbi saw Brighton win 5-0 at Sheffield United in their last Premier League away game.

Prediction

With both sides struggling for consistency, a point apiece may be the most probable outcome in this fixture.

The Seagulls have lost two of their last three away fixtures in the league, while Fulham, who have looked far better at home than away this campaign, have won just one of their last five at Craven Cottage in all competitions.

Three of the last five meetings between Fulham and Brighton have ended in a draw, and both sides may need to settle for another single point again on Saturday.

With just two clean sheets between them across their last 16 combined games, there should also be some joy up front, with goals expected at both ends.
