Striker Armando Broja is loving life at Chelsea

Broja is Auba the moon

Armando Broja is relishing working alongside new Chelsea team-mate Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng.

The 20-year-old striker is expected to provide back-up to former Arsenal skipper Aubameyang, who made a last-gasp switch to the Blues on transfer deadline day last week.

But Broja, who recently signed a new six-year deal with his boyhood club, is ready to grab any opportunities that come his way having already made five appearances from the bench this term.

He said: "Auba's a great player who has done a lot in his career so far and I can learn a lot from him.

"He’s done it at Arsenal and at Barcelona so he’s a good addition and he seems like a very good guy.

"I'm excited to learn from him and a few things he has learned over the years. It’s always good to have that competition in the team.

"Everywhere you go in football, there’s competition and that’s just normal. For me, it’s just about being focused, keeping my head down and working hard.

"Hopefully that leads to many more opportunities but I’m thankful for those I’ve had so far.

"Chelsea have put their faith in me since I was a young player. They’ve always taught me to be resilient and a hard worker and always focus on football.

"I just want to repay their faith with my performances on the pitch, by scoring goals and winning matches."

One of the best

Izzy Christiansen claims Keira Walsh's departure for Barcelona is a huge blow to both Manchester City and the Women's Super League.

England international Walsh, 25, completed a record-breaking switch to the Spanish giants yesterday after eight years with City.

And Christiansen, who has starred alongside the midfielder for both club and country, believes Barca have landed one of the best players around.

The Everton ace said: "She's one of the best midfielders in the world.

Keira Walsh's departure is a blow for the WSL
Keira Walsh's departure is a blow for the WSL

"The rise of her, from the player she was when she joined us at City at the age of 16 to the player she's become, she's absolutely deserving of this move and I hope it really works out for her.

"After one or two training sessions at City, you just knew this girl was special. Massive credit to manager Nick Cushing and City for developing her into the player she is.

"It's a super move for Keira and I wish her well.

"It's a shame for WSL fans that players of that quality are no longer playing in England but the game is so big now that you've got teams who are European giants investing massively in their women's teams.

"In general, for global football, I think it's really good news. City have recruited exceptionally well with young players and I think it's possibly the start of a new era for them."

Villa snap up Hanson

Aston Villa have signed Manchester United forward Kirsty Hanson on a season-long loan.

Scotland international Hanson, 24, has scored 16 goals in 90 appearances for United since joining the club in 2018.

Villa boss Carla Ward said: "Kirsty is someone I’ve known for many years. She’s an exciting talent who will add quality and experience to our forward line.

"She’s a winner and we’re delighted to get her on board."

A night Rich in memories

Richarlison will remember Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Marseille as one of the best days of his life.

The Brazilian, a £60million summer signing from Everton, bagged both goals in five second-half minutes as Spurs marked their return to the Champions League with three points in Group D.

He was in tears after the game as he embraced his father in the stands and the 25-year-old attacker has revealed just how much making his debut in the competition meant to him.

Richarlison said: "After hearing the anthem, I started to smile, it was my dream as a kid.

"Being there, listening to the anthem, playing the match, I got very emotional and I was rewarded after scoring these two goals with the help of my friends.

"The whole team helped me a lot. I’m very happy, it was one of the best days of my life with my father and family here.

"My father was here. He has been with me through all my career. He helped me a lot to make my dreams come true.

"To have him here was very emotional for me because he’s a huge part of my success."

Fresh start

Ralph Hasenhuttl is confident Nathan Redmond will make the most of a fresh start as the Southampton winger closes in on a move to Turkish outfit Besiktas.

Redmond, who joined the Saints from Norwich in summer 2016, has made just one appearance as a sub so far this season.

But Hasenhuttl is glad to see the 28-year-old ace leaving St Mary's on good terms.

He said: "It is a good change for him. After six years it was maybe time to get something new for him.

"We had a fantastic time here together, nearly four years, with a lot of very good moments, some also not so good ones.

"But I absolutely had a good relationship with him until the end, even there he showed his professionalism in such moments.

"It’s a big change for him but I think he made a good choice."

Full backing

Brendan Rodgers insists he has the full support of everyone at struggling Leicester.

The Foxes boss is under pressure with his side sitting bottom of the Premier League on just one point after five successive losses.

That poor start came on the back of a difficult summer in which the club made just two signings and led to Rodgers claiming his squad needed refreshing as early as six months ago.

But the 49-year-old tactician is determined to turn things around, starting with Saturday's derby against Aston Villa.

He said: "I love being here, my record here is concrete in terms of what we have done and how performances have been.

"But of late it has not been to that level. My career has been built on resilience, which is something you need in this industry. It is how I have arrived where I am.

"It is not easy when you are not getting results but it provides the motivation to get things right.

"Normally what you find when results go against you is there can be a level of betrayal that kicks in against you as a manager, but I have never felt that at all. All the staff and players have been absolutely brilliant in their support.

"We are all together, we are all on one page, we have all worked well and now when it is not going so well we are still very much together.

"It is my responsibility to improve the results, there is no question about that, but I have had nothing but support from within to help us get that.”
