Dutch delight

Erik ten Hag was pleased with Manchester United's performance in their 1-0 victory over Brentford at Old Trafford last night.

The Red Devils returned to winning ways after a 2-0 loss at Newcastle last Sunday with Marcus Rashford's first-half strike proving to be the difference against the Bees.

Ten Hag said: "Very important win. Of course, when you lose after the international break, you have to bounce back, so we did and I think it was a good performance as well.

"In the second half, when we did not get a second goal, it was more of a battle but then saw the determination, the passion and the desire that I missed on Sunday.

"I think this is the standard we have to bring in every game. It is not acceptable what we did on Sunday. We know that.

"This is not United, this is not the standards from United, so, yes, there were several things I was happy with."

EA SPORTS enter new era

EA SPORTS has announced the launch of its newest platform, EA SPORTS FC. 

The hugely popular game has unveiled a brand refresh that includes a new name, logo and identity that aims to unite and connect millions of football fans. 

With over 300 global partners, EA SPORTS FC will look to bring together the wider football community through console, mobile, online and esports products.

On the launch, EA SPORTS FC spokesperson Nick Wlodyka said: "This is where the story of EA SPORTS FC begins.

"We are building on 30 years of leadership and history creating experiences that bring the global football community together and continuing to take it into a fan-first future.

"EA SPORTS FC will be a symbol for the sport, a symbol of innovation and change and we’re energized to show our fans more about the future in July."

Sadler staying put

Interim Leicester boss Adam Sadler has confirmed he will still be in charge when Leicester face Premier League relegation rivals Bournemouth on Saturday.

Sadler is working alongside Mike Stowell following Brendan Rodgers' sacking on Sunday afternoon but the pair were unable to steer the Foxes to victory against Aston Villa on Tuesday.

It appears the East Midlands outfit are no closer to appointing a new head coach and the duo are prepared to stick it out for as long as they are needed. 

Sadler said: "The situation remains exactly as it was. Mike and I will prepare the team tomorrow and be ready for the game on Saturday and beyond that, there are no new updates.

"Mike and I have been at this football club for a long time so we know these players very well, they know us very well, so it is just about remaining positive.

"It is a very talented group of players and our job is to give them our full support, which is what we’re doing.

"All we can do is look at the next fixture and prepare the team to go and win the game."

Cooper expected club backing

Steve Cooper is not surprised that Nottingham Forest released a statement publicly backing him ahead of the Premier League run-in.

Several reports emerged following Forest's loss to Leeds on Tuesday but noise about Cooper's potential departure was quashed by owner Evangelos Marinakis.

On the saga, Welsh boss Cooper said: "I have got constant dialogue with the owner so something coming out publicly, there was nothing there that was a surprise to me.

"The club are annoyed with some articles being written before games and they felt they wanted to put an end to that.

"We are all prone to stuff like this, none of us are immune to it and that is absolutely fine.

"I always try and focus on what is important, try and play much better than the other night and win more games than we have been winning.

"I have a lot of dialogue, the statement itself they wanted to put some stuff right about the media which I am not really involved in."

Focused Fernandez

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez continued his run of starting every game since joining in January against Liverpool this week and is confident that he is adapting well to the Premier League.

The Argentinian World Cup winner was signed in a British-record deal from Benfica and has played almost every minute for the Blues so far, something that the man himself believes to be a positive sign.

He said: "It is a very tough league. I am coming from the Portuguese league where sometimes you play more with the ball.

"Here the game is faster and more physical so I am adapting step by step. I know it is going to take time but I have the support from my team-mates and the coaching staff so I can adapt quicker and better here.

"I describe myself as with the characteristics to always have the ball, always play nice football, building up with passes.

"I like this type of football, keeping the possession, building up the game with passes and then attacking the spaces."

Miserable Moyes

David Moyes admits his job is under huge pressure after West Ham were thrashed 5-1 at home by Newcastle.

The visiting Magpies stormed into a 2-0 lead within the opening 15 minutes before Kurt Zouma headed home to give the Hammers hope.

But a costly mistake from Nayef Aguerd early in the second half gave Callum Wilson the chance to restore Newcastle's two-goal margin and Alexander Isak and Joelinton piled on the misery inside the London Stadium.

An unhappy Moyes said: "I am really disappointed, we gave away a terrible first and second goal but not as bad as the third and fourth. That makes it difficult.

"At 2-1 at half-time I’m saying we’re right in the game, then 20 seconds later we had given ourselves a mountain to climb.

"As manager you always have to front up. I’m a big boy, I have left jobs at other times in the past and if that happens I’ll have to go with that.

"But I really like my job here, I have enjoyed my time here greatly and I really hope we have got a couple of big days ahead in the future. But we have been given a spanking tonight."
