Fulham boss Marco Silva lauded his side as they edged through to the Carabao Cup semi-finals after beating Everton on penalties at Goodison Park.

The Cottagers had taken the lead minutes before the break when Antonee Robinson's cross bounced off Michael Keane and past Jordan Pickford.

But with full-time looming, Toffees substitute Beto headed home an equaliser from close range to take the tie to penalties.

Silva's side kept composure, with Tosin Adarabioyo scoring the winning penalty to send Fulham to their first-ever League Cup final-four appearance.

And the Portuguese tactician was proud of his players for their performance in an intense atmosphere.

He told BBC 5 Live: "It is incredible what the players have been doing with our support and management.

"We wanted to make history in this football club, it is a serious approach in this competition and not just tonight."

Silva went on to highlight the lack of control as a key factor in conceding late on.

He said: "We did change four or five players from the last game, tonight we knew it was going to be very tough as Everton are in a good moment.

"I know how difficult it is when you come here even when we scored the first goal they [Everton fans] do not stop supporting their team.

"When we conceded and it went 1-1 I made some tactical changes but after the changes I think we did control the game much better.

"The penalty shootout, the team kept their composure and showed maturity."
