Everton are still on the hunt for a first Premier League win of 2024 and will look to halt their slide down the table against relegation-threatened Burnley.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored a late equaliser against Newcastle after coming off the bench for Everton in midweek and could be brought into the starting lineup.

Dele Alli, Arnaut Danjuma and Lewis Dobbin all remain sidelined for the Toffees.

Prediction

An 88th-minute penalty from Calvert-Lewin salvaged a point for Everton at St James’ Park on Tuesday but the Toffees’ struggles are showing little sign of abating and they could find their winless run extended on Saturday.

Sean Dyche’s side rallied briefly following their points deduction but that resurgence came to an end in mid-December and it has been all downhill since them.

The Clarets are six points adrift of safety but have shown signs of improvement lately, with a 1-1 draw against Wolves in midweek making it four games unbeaten for Vincent Kompany’s men.

Draws in their last two away games against West Ham and Chelsea have boosted their chances of pulling off a great escape and a win at Goodison Park would cut the gap between them and safety to a maximum of four points, offering them genuine hope in the relegation battle.

Given Everton’s dreadful attacking record, which has seen them score the second-fewest top-flight goals this season, backing Burnley to take something from a side that have only won three of their 13 home games this season looks a good choice.
