Paul Warne will be expecting another three points against Burton to maintain Derby's title push

- Derby have won nine of their last 11 games in League One
- Burton have picked up only one point from their last six road outings
- Recommended Bet: Derby to win & over 2.5 goals

Derby’s promotion push in League One is gathering pace and a home victory over Burton on Monday would move them to within one point of stuttering league leaders Portsmouth.

The Rams have their tails up and, although beaten 1-0 at home by Bradford in the EFL Trophy last time out, it is promotion that is at the top of Paul Warne’s agenda.

Derby were 3-1 winners away at Fleetwood in their last League One game, which was the perfect response to the 3-2 defeat they had endured at home to promotion rivals Peterborough previously, and they have now won nine of their last 11 league games.

While the hosts are flying high, Burton are in danger of being embroiled in a relegation scrap.

The Brewers are only five points and two places above drop the zone and they must improve upon a dreadful away record that has seen them collect only nine points from 13 road trips while scoring just seven goals and conceding 21.

Team news

Derby are expected to be without Craig Forsyth and Joe Ward while there are doubts surrounding the fitness of Kane Wilson after he limped off in the midweek loss to Bradford.

The Rams are also without Jake Rooney, Martyn Waghorn, Korey Smith and Conor Washington while Ryan Nyambe is away on international duty with Namibia.

Manchester United loanee Joe Hugill is available for selection for Burton but the visitors could be without defender Sam Hughes.

The Brewers had Kwadwo Baah’s loan spell from Watford cut short due to injury.

The stats

Derby have won nine of their last 11 matches in League One, keeping clean sheets in five of those victories.

The Rams have also scored three or more in six of those nine successes with only Peterborough and Barnsley having netted more than their tally of 47 goals in 27 games.

Burton have won only two of their opening 13 away games in League One, and have collected just one point from their last six road trips.

The Brewers have scored only seven times in 13 away matches and they have fired blanks in five of their last eight road trips.

Derby were 3-0 winners at Burton in the reverse fixture in August while they won this corresponding fixture last season 1-0.

Over 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in five of Derby’s last six home league fixtures.

Prediction

This looks an excellent opportunity for Derby to bolster their promotion hopes with anything but maximum points going to be considered a real disappointment.

The Rams have collected 25 points from their last 10 league games, which is more productive than any other third-tier side, and they have been racking up the goals, scoring three or more in six of their last 11.

That firepower spells trouble for a travel-sick Burton, who have lost five of their last six away games and failed to score on four occasions.

The Brewers have been beaten 4-0 at Peterborough and 3-0 at Oxford in that period, two sides like Derby that occupy the play-off spots, while they have also fired blanks in defeats at Northampton and Bolton.

Derby won the reverse fixture 3-0 and it should be another comfortable evening for them at Pride Park.
