Oliver Glasner will take charge of his first match as Crystal Palace boss against Burnley

With Crystal Palace having been nudged closer and closer to the drop zone since the turn of the year, Roy Hodgson stepped down as Eagles boss earlier in the week and former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner has replaced him.

Glasner inherits a side in a downturn of form, and they are only five points clear of the relegation zone, but this Saturday's opponents, Burnley, are at least in a worse position.

The Clarets sit 19th with only 13 points to their name and know time is running out in their own battle against relegation.

Team news

Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, and Marc Guehi are still unavailable for Crystal Palace ahead of Oliver Glasner's first match in charge, while Will Hughes is doubtful.

Visitors Burnley will be without Aaron Ramsey, Lyle Foster, Nathan Redmond, Jordan Beyer and Luca Koleosho.

The Stats

Burnley have failed to score in nine of their 25 Premier League fixtures this season. Only Everton, Fulham and Sheffield United (10) have drawn more blanks.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace scored only 28 goals in 25 matches in the top flight this term.

The Eagles have seen an average of only 2.88 goals per game in the league this campaign, the third-lowest average in the division.

Prediction

Crystal Palace's appointment of Glasner has come at the worst possible time for Burnley, who would have likely sniffed an opportunity at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles have won just one game in 2024, and their confidence has been through the floor, but they should be more positive given Glasner's arrival.

Glasner is a forward-thinking coach with a good CV behind him, but it will take time for him to impose his methods, and he will start his tenure without key forward players Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze.

As a result, Palace could struggle going forward in this one, having scored just once in each of their last three matches.

Burnley, meanwhile, need no reminder of how poor they have been in front of goal. The Clarets have netted only 25 league goals and have drawn nine blanks in the top flight this term.

Both of those stats point to a dearth of goals when they travel to Croydon, and under 1.5 goals could represent some value at 2/1.

Glasner will likely be after a disciplined performance from his side, and they should not have issues keeping Burnley quiet but going forward, they are unlikely to cause too many problems either.
