- Cheltenham Festival Day 3: Best bet, each-way selection and treble including:
- Mighty Potter to win the Turners Novices' Chase
- Datsalrightgino each-way in the Magners Plate Handicap Chase

The Cheltenham Festival powers on through the halfway marker on Thursday with the day three action set to be headlined by a wide open and high-quality renewal of the Stayers' Hurdle where the young pretenders are coming after Flooring Porter's crown.

Day 3 - Key info

First race: 13:30 Turners Novices' Chase

Feature race: 15:30 Stayers' Hurdle

This year's Festival has thrown up some epic stories across the first two days and there should be plenty more to come in the glorious Cotswolds amphitheatre that is Prestbury Park — which has once more proved itself a racing venue without equal this week already.

The big race on day three is the Stayers' Hurdle and Flooring Porter will be bidding to match the likes of Inglis Drever and Big Buck's in securing win number three in this race for Gavin Cromwell and Danny Mullins.

He has controlled the last two renewals in front and may once more be good enough to see off old foes like Klassical Dream, Home By The Lee and Paisley Park, but there is a new young generation coming for his crown and they are headed by Blazing Khal and TEAHUPOO, who is fancied at 7/2 with LiveScore Bet to land this prize.

The former is hard to bypass but trainer Charles Byrnes has endured problems in his preparation and that tilts the vote to Gordon Elliott's improving six-year-old.

He is 2-2 this season, handing Honeysuckle the first defeat of her career in the Hatton's Grace in December and then excelling over this trip in the Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran Park in January.

He could be one to take this staying hurdles division by the scruff of the neck for the next couple of seasons and can start by winning this.

Mighty Potter is a perfect 3-3 this season since going chasing including Grade 1 wins at Fairyhouse in December and last month at Leopardstown and this Elliott-trained inmate casts a long shadow over this race.

He really motored away from his pursuers under Davy Russell at the Dublin Racing Festival last time and looks to be getting better with each run. This is a big day for Elliott and Russell and they can make the perfect start.

This race has stayed in Britain in three of the last four years, with only The Shunter managing to export it in 2021. His trainer Emmet Mullins tries again now with So Scottish but at 4/1 he looks too short in the betting.

Instead, DATSALRIGHTGINO is fancied for trainer Jamie Snowden. His Chepstow win in November was a good piece of form over shorter and he has twice finished second in Grade 2s at this distance since Christmas — here and at Kempton. First-time cheekpieces are deployed now and he is still on a fair mark of 145 with further improvement possible.

Day 3 acca

Everybody loves a Cheltenham Festival accumulator and we will be pointing towards one on each of the four days this week. On day three, our treble pays over 122/1 return with LiveScore Bet.

Hugely impressive winner at the Dublin Racing Festival recently and brings an unbeaten record over fences into this. Already has two Grade 1 wins this season and the hat-trick beckons.

Shishkin looked to be back on song at Ascot last month but that race was only 26 days ago and this is a quick turnaround in much stronger company.

Envoi Allen is a dual Festival winner here and was third last year in the Champion Chase over an inadequate two-miles. He has won a Grade 1 in Ireland this season and this intermediate test back here could be perfect.

Failed to fire in the Champion Hurdle here last March but excelling himself now upped in trip and looked the real deal at Gowran Park in January on first go at three-miles. Could be the next star in this division.
