Collin Morikawa's recent form hints that he is close to ending his trophy drought
Collin Morikawa's recent form hints that he is close to ending his trophy drought

- Local hero and world number one Scottie Scheffler headlines the field
- Colonial CC has hosted this event every year it has been held since 1946
- Recommended bets:
- Collin Morikawa to win and each-way
- Justin Rose to win and each-way
- Cam Davis to win and each-way
- Christiaan Bezuidenhout to win and each-way

After Brooks Koepka claimed the US PGA Championship at Oak Hill in New York last week, the PGA Tour moves to Texas for the Charles Schwab Challenge at one of its most traditional venues, Colonial CC.

World number one, Texas' own Scottie Scheffler, is the 4/1 favourite with LiveScoreBet after finishing tied for second last week and his fellow runner-up Viktor Hovland is 14/1 alongside Tony Finau and Jordan Spieth.

Defending champion Sam Burns, who beat Scheffler in a play-off 12 months ago, is 28/1.

Next win not far away for Morikawa

Collin Morikawa has been knocking on the door for a while and his precise tee-to-green play should be made for Colonial.

He lost in a play-off on his course debut in 2020 and although he has not claimed a victory since the 2021 Open, there have been a few close shaves.

Morikawa was second in the Tournament of Champions, third at the Farmers Insurance, sixth at the Genesis Invitational at Riviera and 10th in the Masters, so he looks set for a strong challenge and is worth supporting at 16/1 with LiveScoreBet.

Rose is starting to blossom

Justin Rose took a four-week break before finishing ninth at Oak Hill last week and the Englishman could definitely come on for that run.

He won at Colonial in 2018 and was third in a strong field two years later, with his accuracy helping him flourish on this tight track.

Rose has already claimed victory at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am this year and it could be a big week, so he is worth backing at 25/1 with LiveScore Bet.

Davis is enjoying a fine year

Cam Davies looks to have the game for Colonial CC

Cam Davis was seventh in this tournament last year and looks capable of an even better effort after his fourth at the US PGA.

He has already claimed sixth spot at the Players Championship and seventh at the RBC Heritage, on another course where straight hitting tends to be rewarded.

Davis was excellent from tee to green last week and could be a good value selection at 33/1 with LiveScoreBet.

South African can make a strong challenge

Christiaan Bezhuidenhout has the accuracy and skills on and around the greens to do well at Colonial, as he did last year when he finished 15th.

The three-time DP World Tour winner is yet to break his PGA Tour duck but he has performed well enough at the Players (13th) and RBC Heritage (19th) this year to be worth considering at 66/1 with LiveScoreBet.
