Mikel Arteta will want to see Arsenal back up their superb 6-0 win at West ham with another victory.

- Burnley have collected five points from a possible 36 at Turf Moor
- Arsenal’s last away game saw them batter West Ham 6-0
- Recommended bet: Arsenal Win to Zero

Title-chasing Arsenal turned on the style last weekend with a sizzling 6-0 thrashing of West Ham that had to have given Burnley boss Vincent Kompany’s a few sleepless nights.

Mikel Arteta’s juggernaut is in top gear right now and that spells serious danger for the Clarets, who have won only three games all season and only one at Turf Moor.

However, a goal fest may not be a given, as three of the Gunners last four victories at the home of the Clarets have come by 1-0 scorelines.

Team news

Charlie Taylor (shoulder) is back in training and may be available to offer an option at left-back for the hosts.

Striker Lyle Foster missed out at Liverpool because of a muscle injury, while boss Kompany will be in the stands thanks to a one-match ban.

For Arsenal, Takehiro Tomiyasu should be an option for Arteta, while Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Emile Smith-Rowe were close last week, so presumably are even closer.

The stats

Burnley have lost nine of their 12 home matches in the Premier League winning just once, 5-0 against Sheffield United.

The Clarets’ record against the top eight going into this weekend is played 10, lost 10.

Bukayo Saka has scored in each of Arsenal’s last three away games.

The Gunners have won each of their last four top-flight fixtures, scoring a total of 16 goals.

Prediction

Arsenal have recovered from a poor Christmas and New Year with a sizzling start to 2024.

It’s four straight wins over the past three weeks, culminating in a fabulous 3-1 triumph over Liverpool and an incredible 6-0 romp at West Ham.

The Hammers are set up to be one of the sterner defensive tests for opponents, yet Arteta’s men ran them ragged and could have scored double figures.

England midfielder Declan Rice is proving to be the missing link the Gunners required and whoever Arteta perms to fill the front three slots, he knows chances will be created.

The size of the task facing Burnley could not be bigger. They haven’t beaten a top-half side this season and, while the arrival of David Fofana appears to have given them something of a focus in attack, you still imagine them not seeing much of the ball and getting well beaten.

Burnley haven’t won in seven and are competitive enough to avoid a drubbing, if not a routine defeat to nil.
