Norwich City remain rooted to the bottom of the table after a 0-0 stalemate with winless Burnley.

In a game where chances were few and far between, Dwight McNeil nearly gave the hosts the lead but skied his shot over the bar from close range.

The Canaries then hit the woodwork, as Mathias Normann's effort skimmed the crossbar.

The result leaves both sides in the bottom three and winless in seven Premier League games.

Clarets manager Sean Dyche was frustrated following the final whistle. He said: "A lot of good stuff and play, effective play, but finding the truth of the moment and scoring a goal is a challenge at the moment.

"We are getting into some good areas, but the moment of clarity and quality is close.

"I believe it will come because our history shows it will come, we have players of quality."

Canaries manager Daniel Farke was more upbeat following the stalemate, commenting: "I will take this. It is definitely a good feeling.

"Of course we are happier when we win a game and there were chances to win this game.

"It was a difficult game but we've had a difficult start with our fixtures.

"It is priceless to be off the mark with our first point and first clean sheet."

In their 44th meeting in all competitions, this was the first-ever goalless draw between Burnley and Norwich.

Burnley are winless in their last 10 Premier League games (D3 L7), failing to score on six occasions in that run. Meanwhile, at home the Clarets are winless in 14 league games (D7 L7), since beating Aston Villa 3-2 in January.

This goalless draw ended a run of 16 consecutive Premier League defeats for Norwich. However, the Canaries have failed to score in 10 of their last 11 top-flight away games, including each of the last six in a row.

Burnley have picked up more yellow cards than any other Premier League side this season (18), with their five bookings against Norwich today the joint-most received by a side in a Premier League game this term.

This was Norwich keeper Tim Krul’s 200th Premier League game, and his first clean sheet in the competition since the Canaries’ 1-0 win over Leicester in February 2020.
