Broncos release former Super Bowl winner McManus

The Denver Broncos have not been to the playoffs since winning Super Bowl 50 in 2016, and now the last remaining member of that team is no longer around after kicker Brandon McManus was released on Tuesday.

McManus played all nine years of his NFL career in Denver and ranks second in franchise history with 946 points behind fellow kicker Jason Elam, who amassed 1,786 points with the Broncos between 1993 and 2007.

McManus' 40 field goals of 50 or more yards are the most in franchise history, his 81.4 field-goal percentage is second behind Matt Prater (82.9), and he is third in extra-point percentage (96.9) behind Elam (99.5) and Prater (99.2).

During the playoffs after the 2015 season, McManus went 10 for 10 on field-goal attempts and made all three of his extra-point tries. The Broncos subsequently defeated the Carolina Panthers 24-10 in Super Bowl 50.

"Brandon has been a key player and presence with the Broncos for nearly a decade, making outstanding contributions to our team and community," Denver general manager George Paton said in a statement.

"Developing into one of the NFL's most productive kickers, Brandon made so many clutch kicks for this franchise over the years as a Super Bowl champion and team captain.

"He will always hold a special place in Denver Broncos history. We thank Brandon for all he did for the Broncos, and we wish him and his great family the very best in the future."
