Bristol City boss Liam Manning is fresh from an FA Cup giant-killing win over West Ham

- Bristol City beat West Ham in the FA Cup third round on Tuesday
- Watford are unbeaten in their last four matches
- Recommended bet: Bristol City to win

Bristol City snapped a four-game winless streak in style by beating West Ham United in the FA Cup on Tuesday night at a rocking Ashton Gate.

Now Liam Manning’s men need to get their play-off push back on track by landing odds of 11/8 with LiveScore Bet against a Watford side they thrashed 4-1 at Vicarage Road on Boxing Day.

Team news

City boss Liam Manning will be reluctant to change too many faces after the 1-0 win against West Ham in midweek.

New loan signing Scott Twine could come into Manning’s thinking as one of the two playmakers in his 3-4-2-1 set-up, with Taylor Gardner-Hickman dropping back into the engine room alongside Joe Williams.

Five-goal Vakoun Bayo is available for Watford after a three-game ban, though the game is probably too soon for left-sided duo Jamal Lewis and Ken Sema to be reunited. James Morris and Matheus Martins should, therefore, keep their spots.

DR Congo midfielder Edo Kayembe has been sent home from the Africa Cup of Nations after picking up an injury, so presumably won’t play.

The stats

Bristol City are the model of inconsistency under Manning with five wins, five defeats and four draws in his 14 games in charge.

They have not scored in their last three league matches since winning 4-1 at Watford at Christmas.

Watford are unbeaten in four matches since that loss and have won four of their last five away games.

They have lost only one of their last nine away games, and that was at leaders Leicester.

The Hornets have picked up 19 points on their travels - yet have not lead at half time in any of their 13 away fixtures.

Both teams have scored in each of Watford’s last 11 fixtures.

Prediction

There are usually goals in Watford’s games and there may well be again at Ashton Gate, this time with Bristol City grabbing the lion’s share of them.

Watford come into the game on the back of a four-game unbeaten streak, two draws followed by 2-1 wins over Chesterfield in the FA Cup and QPR.

And their away form is decent, so they will be confident they can get something from the trip west.

But City are rocking after outclassing West Ham not once, but twice, in the FA Cup, forcing a replay at the London Stadium and then finishing off the job at home on Tuesday night.

They are sure to be confident having been to Watford and won 4-1 less than a month ago and with Manning’s principles starting to bed in, City are looking more and more impressive.

Watford have not kept a clean sheet since beating Rotherham over two months ago and look too easy to play against.
