Luke Williams looks to be getting his message across at Swansea

- Bristol City have failed to win four of their last five at home
- Swansea are unbeaten in three
- Recommended bet: Swansea to win

Bristol City host Swansea City on Sunday, with the sides separated by a point in the standings but in danger of heading in different directions.

While hardly close neighbours, there is still a derby feel when Welsh sides head down the M4 and across the border into England.

The Swans do so in good form, having beaten both Sunderland and Blackburn 2-1 before drawing 1-1 at Watford last time out.

The Robins have lost their last four to wave goodbye to their play-off hopes and the pair's contrasting form hints at another tough afternoon for the Robins.

Team news

Home boss Liam Manning has hinted that he could attempt to change his side's fortunes by starting both Nahki Wells and Tommy Conway in attack, switching from a lone front player to a two-man partnership.

Scott Twine (quad), Matty James (Achilles) and Kal Naismith (hamstring) are all close to returns, although this game may come too soon, while George Tanner could miss out again due to a knee issue.

Swans manager Luke Williams has reported no new injury concerns for the trip to Ashton Gate.

Former Robins midfielder Liam Walsh (calf) and Josh Ginnelly (Achilles) are the Welsh club's only expected absentees.

The stats

Bristol City have won just one of their last six at home in all competitions, scoring in just two of those games.

The Robins head into Sunday's game on the back of four straight defeats, most recently losing 3-2 at Ipswich.

Swansea are unbeaten in three, drawing 1-1 at Watford in their last outing.

They also have a decent away record this season, winning six out of 18 on the road in the Championship, one more than at home.

Swansea are streaky. They can be sensational when things are going their way but also experience significant downturns, losing six out of seven in all competitions between January 20 and February 17.

However, they have collected seven out of the nine points available to them since then and will be confident about their chances of winning at Ashton Gate for the first time since August 2021.

Bristol City won September's reverse match 2-1, but their initial improvement after Manning's appointment in November has dissipated and the fact that he has publicly pondered changing his formation hints that he might be losing confidence.

Both of these sides' seasons feel in the balance. They are planted in mid-table, with just enough time to go on a magnificent run that might just see them break into the play-offs, while they are also dangerously close to being dragged into a potential relegation dogfight.

The Swans have the momentum, especially with their hosts struggling for consistency at Ashton Gate.
