Both Brighton and Nottingham Forest will be desperate to end three-match losing runs when they meet at the Amex Stadium on Sunday.

Forest’s precarious position just above the drop zone means their need is perhaps greater, but the Seagulls need to recover from the 4-0 Europa League thumping they received at Roma on Thursday.

Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour serves the final match of a three-game ban, while Joao Pedro is struggling with a hamstring problem.

Forest’s Nicolas Dominguez faces a late test after picking up a knock in the 1-0 home defeat to Liverpool, while Willy Boly and Chris Wood are pushing to be in the squad having returned to training after injury.

Prediction

Both of these teams need to be picked up after some poor results, but it is questionable whether either will emerge from their Amex Stadium clash with three points.

Brighton, who are unbeaten on their own patch in 12 matches, are predictably favourites, but they are difficult to trust after a difficult few weeks that have seen them dumped out of the FA Cup, lose 3-0 at Fulham and then brushed aside 4-0 by Roma in the Europa League just a few days ago.

Their undefeated home run has been characterised by too many draws – they have posted six in their last nine on their own patch – and there is reason to believe Forest can earn a point from their trip to the south coast.

Forest have won just one of their last ten away league matches, but the fact both Manchester United and Liverpool have needed last-gasp winners to claim 1-0 wins at the City Ground in the last fortnight should give Nuno Espirito Santo’s side more than a glimmer of hope.

They created opportunities in both of those games, particularly against Jurgen Klopp’s table-toppers and anything from this trip could prove valuable for a team who are looking nervously over their shoulders at the bottom three.

And, with it being difficult to put much faith in a home team who have won just two of their last eight league games, it could pay to back the draw in Sunday’s encounter.
