Pep Guardiola will want to see Manchester City make no mistake on their trip to Bournemouth.

- Bournemouth have lost all of their 13 Premier League games against Man City
- Man City unbeaten in their last 16 games in all competitions
- Recommended bet: Man City over 3.5 team goals

Bournemouth had been on a positive run in December and managed to win four on the bounce, including a memorable 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

However, without a win so far in 2024, Andoni Iraola’s side have hit a wall since the turn of the year and things won’t get any easier against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The reigning English and European champions responded well to their recent 1-1 draw with Chelsea to earn a 1-0 win over Brentford in midweek.

This is the time of year City tend to go up through the gears and it could well be a long afternoon for Iraola and his Bournemouth side on Saturday.

Team news

Injuries have certainly not helped Bournemouth’s cause and they look set to be without the likes of Tyler Adams, Max Aarons, Ryan Fredericks and James Hill again this weekend.

Darren Randolph and Romain Faivre have both been struggling with illness and are doubts for the arrival of City.

Philip Billing is set to serve the last of his three-game suspension on Saturday, meaning Lewis Cook and Ryan Christie are likely to keep their places in midfield.

As for City, Jack Grealish and Josko Gvardiol remain sidelined with a muscle and ankle injury respectively.

Kevin De Bruyne was not risked against Brentford in midweek, but could be for a return to the starting line-up.

Kevin De Bruyne will be hoping to play a part for Manchester City at Bournemouth this weekend.

The stats

Bournemouth have lost all 13 of their Premier League meetings with Man City.

Despite City’s dominance in this fixture, five of the last six encounters between these two sides in all competitions have ended with both teams getting on the scoresheet.

City have scored 16 goals in their last three meetings with the Cherries in the Premier League.

England international Phil Foden has enjoyed playing against the south coast outfit of late, scoring in his last four games against Bournemouth in all competitions.

Prediction

With Erling Haaland starting to get back amongst the goals, with three in his last three Premier League games, it could be another rout against Bournemouth this weekend.

Fellow title contenders Liverpool and Arsenal have both won 4-0 at the Vitality Stadium this season and it would be little surprise to see City win by a similar scoreline on Saturday.

The return of De Bruyne will give City an added threat in attack and don’t be shocked to see Foden back in amongst the goals given his recent record against the Cherries.
