Wayne Rooney now has a win on the board as Birmingham manager

- Rotherham have picked up only one point in nine away league games
- Birmingham have lost only one of their nine home league games
- Recommended Bet: Birmingham & over 1.5 goals

Wayne Rooney claimed his first victory as Birmingham manager at home to Sheffield Wednesday last weekend and the Blues will be hoping to repeat the trick at St. Andrew's against Rotherham.

Birmingham were unable to build on that victory over Wednesday as they were beaten 4-2 at Blackburn in midweek, which means they have won only one of their seven league games under Rooney’s charge.

However, they meet a Rotherham side who look set to be embroiled in a season-long relegation scrap, having picked up only 12 points from their opening 18 games.

The Millers are already seven points adrift of safety and, following a six-game winless run, are in need of a lift at Birmingham.

Team news

Birmingham remain without Keshi Anderson, Alfie Chang, George Hall and Tyler Roberts.

For Rotherham, the injury situation is far worse with Tyler Blackett, Cafu, Sam Clucas, Shane Ferguson, Andre Green and Cameron Humphreys all missing.

The stats

Birmingham have been pretty efficient at home this season, with them winning five and drawing three of their nine league games at St. Andrew's.

The Blues have collected 18 of their 22 points at home, although they have won only one of their seven league games with Rooney in the dugout.

Birmingham are without a clean sheet in ten Championship games and both teams have scored in each of their last five league matches.

Rotherham, meanwhile, have won only one of their last 13 league matches, losing seven of those matches.

The managerless Millers have failed to win any of their last 22 matches away in the Championship, taking only one point from nine away games this season.

Rotherham have scored only four goals in those nine away fixtures, a lack of firepower which may again spell trouble for them on their travels.

Prediction

If it wasn’t for their home form, Birmingham could well find themselves in a similar situation to relegation-threatened Rotherham.

The Blues have lost only once in nine attempts at St. Andrew's, where Rooney claimed his first victory as manager in a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday last time out.

This looks like another must-win match for Rooney given he has succeeded only once in seven games as boss and it strikes as a gilt-edged opportunity.

The Millers have been utterly dreadful on their travels, losing eight of their nine away games with their only point coming in a shock 1-1 draw with Southampton.

Otherwise, it has been pure misery for travelling Rotherham supporters with only four away goals scored as well as defeats to nil at relegation rivals Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday.

So Birmingham can claim maximum points and to eke out some extra value punters should opt for the match to have at least two goals.

Nine of Birmingham’s last ten league games have featured two or more goals and they have won five of their nine home matches.
