Mikel Arteta's Arsenal have been in tip-top Premier League form since the turn of the year.

- Arsenal have won their last five Premier League fixtures
- Newcastle's league games have averaged 3.76 goals per game
- Recommended Bet: Arsenal to win & over 3.5 goals

Wednesday night's 1-0 loss away to Porto was an uncharacteristic performance from Arsenal, who looked nervy, uncreative and failed to direct a shot on target.

They have work to do in the second leg of that last-16 tie, but can turn their attention back to the Premier League on Saturday evening and it is fair to say they have been flying in the top-flight.

Mikel Arteta's men have won all five of their league fixtures in 2024 and will be confident ahead of their match-up with Newcastle, who are themselves pushing for a place in the top six.

Team news

Thomas Partey could return for Arsenal, having been out since October with a thigh injury, while Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko are also fighting to be fit. Takehiro Tomiyasu, however, is sidelined.

Fabian Schar is available for selection after recovering from a wrist problem, while Alexander Isak and Joe Willock are back in training for Newcastle.

Callum Wilson, Elliot Anderson and Joelinton remain out.

The stats

Arsenal have won five Premier League matches on the spin, scoring a total of 21 goals in that run.

Newcastle's six league fixtures in 2024 have produced a total of 32 goals.

Bukayo Saka has scored in four consecutive Premier League matches and is bidding to become the first Arsenal player to score in five league matches in a row since 2015.

Eddie Howe has seen his Newcastle side go unbeaten in their last four Premier League matches.

Prediction

Arsenal have excelled in the Premier League in 2024, winning each of their first five games of the year against Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, West Ham and Burnley.

In the process they have fired home 21 goals, impressing in 5-0 thrashings against Crystal Palace and Burnley and a 6-0 thumping of West Ham.

They certainly know where the goal is and the Gunners are worth backing to win a high-scoring match at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Saka is in red-hot form with goals in each of his last four league games, while Gabriel Jesus is nearing a return and could be involved in the squad as well.

Arteta will expect a response following the loss in Porto and beating a Newcastle side who made the top four last season would be a great way for the team to do exactly that.

Eddie Howe's men have blown hot and cold this season. They have won 11 and lost ten games in the Premier League this season, but goals have been a consistent part of their game.

They have scored 53 times in the top flight, more than the likes of Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester United, but their tally of 41 goals conceded is more than relegation-threatened Everton.

Newcastle's six league games this year have produced a whopping 32 goals, with results such as a 4-4 draw with Luton and a 4-2 defeat to Liverpool.

So, while Arsenal are the best bet to win this game, they could have a battle on their hands and goals are expected in north London, where a home win and over 3.5 goals is the best bet.
