Ange Postecoglou claimed Tottenham "let themselves down" in losing 2-1 at home to West Ham.

The defeat was the fifth straight match in which Spurs have dropped points from a winning position.

And Postecoglou berated his side's performance, swatting away suggestions they had played well.

He said: "People say we're playing good football but we're not showing any real conviction in the way we're playing.

"People say we're playing nice stuff but that's not what I'm about. I want to win.

"We had plenty of chances, probably our best ones in the second half.

"Credit to West Ham, they are always going to hang in there.

"You want to be in a position where if you dominate games of football you turn it into wins.

"We didn't today and it is not the first time.

"We let ourselves down when we should have won the game comfortably."

Cristian Romero's early header gave Spurs a deserved opener in the 11th minute but Jarrod Bowen hit back in the second half, capitalising on a loose ball in the penalty area to fire home.

And after a sloppy backpass from Destiny Udogie, James Ward-Prowse hit the post before knocking in the rebound to complete a brilliant Hammers turnaround.

West Ham have won five of their last six games in all competitions while Tottenham suffered their fourth defeat in five.

Spurs are now the first side in Premier League history to lead 1-0 and fail to win in five straight matches.

Postecoglou's side have a chance to respond against Newcastle on Sunday, who were beaten 3-0 away at Everton on Thursday evening.
