Hull have revived their flagging play-off hopes by taking seven points from their last three fixtures and will be looking to stay in the hunt by targeting a victory over Watford at Vicarage Road.

The Tigers jumped from 10th to seventh after last Saturday’s comfortable 3-0 win at home to QPR but they remain six points adrift of sixth-placed Norwich, who have played one game more.

Watford had hoped to feature prominently in the promotion race but they have endured a difficult season and are not quite mathematically safe from the threat of relegation.

However, the Hornets have competed well under interim manager Tom Cleverley — winning one, drawing four and losing one since the former Manchester United player took over from Valerien Ismael.

Watford are still without Jeremy Ngakia (knee) and Ken Sema (hamstring).

The Hornets switched to a back four for the start of last Saturday’s 3-2 loss at Southampton but reverted to a three after trailing 2-1 at the break.

Hull look set to be without Burnley loanee Anass Zaroury, who has missed the last two matches with a groin strain.

Manchester City loanee Liam Delap returned from injury as a second-half substitute in last Saturday’s 3-0 success at home to QPR.

Hull probably feel they have to win their last four matches to have a decent chance of making the play-offs and they can take the first step by defeating Watford in Hertfordshire.

Liam Rosenior’s side went on a six-game winless run from late-February to early April which did a lot of damage to their promotion hopes.

However, they have raised standards in recent weeks and impressed in both boxes with last weekend’s 3-0 triumph at home to QPR.

Hull seem to have regained their focus and can take advantage of a Watford side who may already have one eye on next season.

The Hornets have won only three league matches in 2024 and seem unlikely to increase the tally this weekend.
