The end of a quiet January transfer window was as notable for the deals that did not go through as those that did.

Adam Wharton's switch from Blackburn to Crystal Palace and Fulham's loan signing of Armando Broja from Chelsea were the standout deals on a disappointing deadline day.

We take a look at the moves that were reported to be on the cards but did not materialise.

Caoimhin Kelleher to Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest's search for a goalkeeper saw them turn to Liverpool's No2 Caoimhin Kelleher, according to The Mail.

But the Reds turned down Forest's £15million offer as there was not enough time to source a replacement for themselves.

The Premier League strugglers ended up signing Mats Sels from Strasbourg.

Bryan Gil to Brighton

Tottenham winger Bryan Gil elected to stay in North London despite interest from Brighton.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reported interest from the Seagulls, who are currently without Kaoru Mitoma, Simon Adingra and Ansu Fati due to injuries and international duty.

But Gil still wants to contribute to Spurs and was reluctant to make another temporary move.

Rayan Cherki to Fulham

Fulham resurrected a deal to sign exciting forward Rayan Cherki from Lyon on deadline day but left it too late.

Cherki, 20, was linked with Chelsea in the summer and has made 21 appearances for the French side this term.

And Romano later reported that while a deal was discussed, it was never close enough for Cottagers fans to get too excited.

Stefano Sensi to Leicester

Leicester were close to completing an eye-catching move for Stefano Sensi, who has played 56 times for Inter Milan since signing in 2020.

But a move fell down at the last minute due to the clubs' failure to agree on the loan terms, report The Telegraph.

The 28-year-old had even completed a medical at the King Power Stadium but Enzo Maresca's Championship leaders will have to do without him.

Calum Chambers to West Brom

Forgotten man Calum Chambers was reportedly offered a way out of Aston Villa, with West Brom keen to sign him for their promotion push.

But Chambers turned down a move to The Hawthorns and two other Championship clubs, according to Football Insider.

Instead, he will continue to provide cover for Villa's first-choice cast of defenders as they continue their pursuit of Champions League qualification and lifting the Europa Conference League.

Said Benrahma to Lyon

The highest-profile deal not to go through was Said Benrahma's proposed switch to Lyon.

Benrahma was suspended for the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth but would likely have been left out anyway in anticipation of the move going ahead.

But an official statement from the Ligue 1 side accused the Hammers of a "profound lack of respect" after the transfer collapsed.
