Millwall draw no bet

Sunderland are set for a mid-table Championship finish this season and poor home form goes a long way towards explaining why they have not made a stronger push for the play-offs.

They won at West Brom last time out but face a team who have greatly eased their relegation fears with consecutive wins over Leicester and Cardiff.

Team news

Sunderland could be unchanged from the team that won 1-0 at West Brom in their last game, although fit-again Aji Alese will be pushing for a start.

Dennis Cirkin, Niall Huggins and Nazariy Rusyn remain sidelined for the Black Cats.

Millwall boss Neil Harris has no fresh injury or suspension concerns and looks set to stick with the team that beat his former club Cardiff last time out.

Both teams have scored in four of the last five league meetings between the two sides.

Sunderland have scored a total of just two goals across their last five games at the Stadium of Light.

Seven of the Black Cats last nine games have featured fewer than three goals.

Just two of Millwall’s last 16 Championship games have featured over 3.5 goals.

The Lions have scored in eight of their last 10 games.

Sunderland have won just two of their last 12 Championship matches.

Prediction

Sunderland have seen their Championship season slip away and while Millwall have not been pulling up trees on the road this season, they could make life difficult for the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light.

Both of Sunderland’s victories in their last dozen league games have come away from their Wearside base and they were outclassed 5-1 by Blackburn the last time they were in action on their own patch.

A 1-0 win at West Brom will have lifted spirits, but the Lions should be confident they can earn something from their long trip north, even if they have lost their last four away games.

They were defeated at promotion-chasing Leeds, which was no disgrace, before losing to late goals at Rotherham and Huddersfield, and it will have helped that they have got their act together at The Den, dragging themselves away from immediate relegation danger with victories over Leicester and Cardiff.

They have failed to score in just two of their last eight Championship matches and that gives them a chance against a team who could be turned upon by their own fans if things do not go well immediately.

A low-scoring game is anticipated, which means there is a strong chance the game finishes level, but it is worth chancing Millwall in the draw-no-bet market.
