Stoke to win

Norwich have forced their way into the play-off places in the Championship after a run of five wins in eight games ahead of Saturday’s trip to Stoke.

Another win for the Canaries would keep them inside the top six but they will need to be on form to come away with maximum points.

The Potters are scrapping for survival and sit just three points clear of the relegation zone — but two wins in their last three games suggest they could be finding form at the right time as they bid to avoid the drop down to the third tier.

Team news

Stoke coach Steven Schumacher is likely to stick largely with the same side that claimed a 2-1 win at Preston last time out but he will be forced into at least one change as Wouter Berger begins a two-match suspension.

Enda Stevens has been absent since November but is close to a return and could make the matchday squad, although Junior Tchamadeu remains absent.

Norwich are without Dimitris Giannoulis due to a hamstring injury, with Shane Duffy, Onel Hernandez and Jonathan Rowe also sidelined.

The Canaries could name the same starting XI that crushed Rotherham 5-0 in their last outing.

The stats

David Wagner's Norwich may be in the top six but they have lost nine and won only four of their 18 away games

Stoke have won two of their last three games.

Norwich have lost nine of their 18 away games in the Championship (W4, D5).

The Canaries have won just one of their last eight away league games.

Potters forward Bae Jun-ho has two goals in his last four games.

Prediction

Norwich have hit some form with five wins in their last eight games but the vast majority of their success has come at home and they may struggle to get anything at this improving Stoke side.

The Potters put in what was probably their best performance since Schumacher’s arrival in December when they overcame Norwich’s promotion rivals Preston last time out, and they can back up that win with another crucial three points here.

The Canaries have been a bit of a ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ outfit this season as they sit sixth in the table overall, but on away results alone they would sit in 19th place.

Norwich have lost exactly half of their 18 trips, winning just four, and just 17 of their 58 points in total have come on the road.

Stoke have won two of their last three at home and are starting to show some fight in their battle against the drop, so a home win looks the best option in this Championship game.
