The League Two play-offs get underway when Notts County host AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, with the pair having both fell over the line somewhat as the regular season came to a close.

Now they will battle it out in the first leg of this race to reach Wembley, as both look to move one step closer to League One.

Team news

Notts County have a number of injury concerns with Nick Tsaroulla, Scott Robertson and Lucas Ness all expected to miss out.

David McGoldrick is also a doubt after missing the final game of the regular campaign with a hamstring injury.

Wimbledon have no new injury concerns for this crucial clash, with 17-goal top scorer Matty Stevens expected to lead the line up front.

The stats

Wimbledon’s last six games have all gone under 2.5 goals and four of the last five meetings between these two teams have also produced fewer than three strikes.

The Dons have scored first in four of their last five clashes with Saturday’s hosts, while both teams have scored in each of Notts County’s last five matches.

Notts have lost four of their last six games, however, and they have not kept a clean sheet in any of those matches.

Prediction

Play-offs tend to be tight, cagey affairs and that may prove to be the case when Notts County host Wimbledon.

The Dons have the best defensive record in the division, conceding just 35 times, and that could play into their hands in this clash.

Notts County come into this tie in particularly bad form, having lost four of their last six games, and winning just one of those.

They were beaten 2-0 by these opponents back in March and could fall to a similar fate this time around.

Wimbledon have been involved in some big games in recent seasons, playing Chelsea and Newcastle in the cup over the last two campaigns, and that experience should stand them in good stead.

Take the stalemate out of the equation and side with Wimbledon in the draw no bet market to edge this first leg.
