The racing action comes thick and fast on Monday and Musselburgh's seven-race card is where our focus will be

The best of Monday's racing action comes from north of the border at Musselburgh, with the Scottish layout hosting a seven-race card on the Flat from 1.50pm until 5.20pm.

Ground conditions are set to be 'Soft-good to soft in places' on the outskirts of Edinburgh and we have picked out five horses for you to follow.

1.20pm - Happy Birthday Hera Hull Handicap Division 1 (5f)

Iain Jardine will hope to once more see THE GLOAMING shine back here at Musselburgh.

The filly recorded her lone career success over this C&D on soft ground in May and was runner-up last month over track and trip.

Her most recent effort on the all-weather at Newcastle is easily overlooked and with conditions very much in her favour now and a career-low mark of 55 to operate from, Andrew Mullen's partner must be on any shortlist for the Musselburgh opener.

LiveScore selection: The Gloaming

2.25pm - New Mr & Mrs McGarrity Handicap (7f)

The admirable Tommy G cannot be discounted, he has four wins already in 2021 and rarely gives anything bar his best.

His top-weight burden is eased somewhat by a 5lb claimer and they should go well.

IRIS DANCER can count herself unfortunate not to have notched a win since joining this stable.

There have been a string of near-misses at Hamilton since July and she was left with plenty ground to make up when fourth last time at York in a higher grade.

Her only win came on soft and she should relish this test.

LiveScore selection: Iris Dancer

3pm - British EBF Flying Scotsman Conditions Stakes (5f)

Simon and Ed Crisford will be hoping Roulston Scar can land his third straight win
Simon and Ed Crisford will be hoping Roulston Scar can land his third straight win

Tarboosh won this in 2019 and generally goes well at this track but the balance of his recent form makes it hard to side with him for win purposes now.

Simon and Ed Crisford's smart sprinter ROULSTON SCAR by contrast comes here seeking to complete a hat-trick after wins at Leicester and Chelmsford last month when he came back from a break.

He had lots to spare in both instances and, in spite of giving away weight to the field, this looks to be another good spot for him.

LiveScore selection: Roulston Scar

3.35pm - Racing TV Profits Back To Racing Handicap (5f)

ALBEGONE failed only narrowly to continue his winning streak at Redcar (5f, good) recently and that was an admirable effort from Tim Easterby's charge, given he was shouldering a double penalty after successes at this course (good to soft) and Hamilton (5f, soft) earlier in September.

He is rising in grade for this contest but consequently has just 8st 10lb on his back now and he could be hard to stop.

LiveScore selection: Albegone

5.20pm - Visit Racing TV Now Handicap (1m1f)

The finale is very much an open contest and there are plenty with claims but few are in better form than CAPTAIN CORELLI for Julie Camacho and Jason Hart.

He has posted figures of 25212 so far this season, winning at Carlisle (1m, good to firm) early last month and running another sound race since at Beverley when second best.

He has got to overcome a wide stall here and is 2lb higher in the ratings again, but having chased home an easy winner last time, he looks like he'll appreciate the longest trip he has faced so far.

LiveScore selection: Captain Corelli
