LiveScore Racing Preview: York, August 20, 2021

York's Ebor Festival continues on Friday and feature race the Group One Nunthorpe is supported by the Gimcrack and Lonsdale Cup.

We have picked five horses for you to follow. 

1.50pm - Sky Bet Handicap (1m4f)

It is incredible to think that WINK OF AN EYE began the season off a mark of 66. He is now rated 91 and it is unlikely that he has stopped improving just yet. 

William Haggas' colt's biggest rival in this race is State Of Bliss. He beat him by a neck last time out at Goodwood (1m3f) but the margin may be wider over this longer distance. 

The son of Dubawi will be given a patient ride by David Egan who is expected to produce a late surging run. He should be full of confidence following his victory on Mishriff earlier this week.

2.25pm - Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup Stakes (2m½f, Group 2)

Trueshan and STRADIVARIUS have had some great battles over the past couple of seasons and this Group Two stayers' race could come down to another close tussle between the pair. 

The latter is a two-time winner of this contest and he can make it a hat-trick of wins, a result which will be cheered home by the crowd in attendance at York. 

John and Thady Gosden's runner continues to show his enthusiasm for racing despite reaching seven years old. He did not get a clear run earlier this season in the Ascot Gold Cup at a crucial point of the race but shouldn't have those issues this time in this small field.

3pm - Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack Stakes (6f, Group 2)

A hat-trick of wins did not arrive for FEARBY last time out as he had to settle for second place behind Armor at Goodwood (5f). 

Edward Bethell's sprinter has been finishing his races strongly so this step-up to 6f is likely to help. He blew the field away by five lengths in a Listed race at Sandown on his penultimate outing and there may be much more to come from him.

3.35pm - Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe Stakes (5f, Group 1)

Wesley Ward has had some superstar sprinters in his barn in the United States over the last decade and GOLDEN PAL could be next in line to emerge as a Group One winner in the UK. 

The three-year-old was second in the Norfolk in 2020 and has had one appearance so far this season, scoring at Saratoga in the US in a Group Three contest. 

The American trainer does not bring many horses over for this meeting so he must feel his colt has an excellent chance of giving him his first success in this race.

4.40pm - Assured Data Protection EBF Fillies' Handicap (1m2½f)

SEA LA ROSA is a well-bred filly who is a daughter of the great Sea The Stars. She has been victorious in two of her three races this season, including on her latest appearance at Redcar (1m2f). 

William Haggas' runner has scored over 1m4f so if this race becomes a stamina test, it will suit her just fine.
