Ipswich will be looking to get their automatic promotion charge back on track when they take on relegation-threatened Sheffield Wednesday at Portman Road in the Championship on Saturday.

The Tractor Boys fell to a gut-wrenching 2-1 defeat at Cardiff last time out, conceding twice in stoppage time and they find themselves a point behind second-placed Leeds heading into this latest round of fixtures.

Wednesday sit 23rd in the table, just one point from safety and they will also be aiming to get back to winning ways after suffering a 2-0 home loss against Leeds last time out.

Ipswich remain without the defensive duo of Brandon Williams and Janoi Donacien due to their respective injuries, while forward George Hirst is also in the treatment room.

As for Wednesday, the quartet of Callum Paterson, Kristian Pedersen, Juan Delgado and Josh Windass are all unavailable for selection due to injury.

Ian Poveda is expected to return to the starting XI after missing the 2-0 defeat against parent club Leeds last time out.

The stats

Ipswich have collected 43 points from 18 Championship matches at Portman Road this season, only Leeds (46) boast a better home record.

The Tractor Boys have scored a division-leading 47 times in their own backyard this term, but just three teams have conceded more than the 29 of Kieran McKenna's side at home.

Wednesday were on a four-game winning streak before losing at home to Leeds last time out, with that run of results leaving them just one point from safety.

Danny Rohl's troops have picked up just 13 points on the road, only Rotherham (4) and Birmingham (12) have amassed less.

Prediction

There is plenty on offer for both sides heading into this contest, with Ipswich fighting hard for an automatic promotion spot while Wednesday are aiming to secure their second-tier status for another season.

Rohl's side have shown impressive form over recent weeks, winning four games in a row before losing to Leeds, but they may not have enough to overthrow the Tractor Boys on their own patch.

Portman Road has been a fortress this season, with Ipswich losing just one of their 18 fixtures and they should have enough to get the job done once again.

However, this contest is likely to produce plenty of goals, given the fact McKenna's troops are the joint-highest scorers in the division, but have also conceded 49 times.

Of Ipswich's 13 home league wins this term, 11 of those have seen both teams score and that same outcome can be witnessed again on Saturday.
