Kai Havertz admits it will take time for him to settle into life at Arsenal.

The German forward, 24, made a surprise £65million switch to the Emirates from London rivals Chelsea earlier this summer.

Yesterday saw him make his Gunners debut in a friendly against German second tier side Nurnberg and the Champions League winner is under no illusions about the challenge he faces at his new club.

He explained: "It'll take some days and weeks for me to get used to the style of play, that is clear.

"But I'm going to give everything for the club to get the fitness back into my body and hopefully perform at the highest level in the league.

"From the outside, it always looked like a big family and I always felt the energy whenever I played against them. 

"For me, it was always so tough to play against them because you felt the togetherness of the players, and now to be in there I felt very welcome from the first second."

Openda door

RB Leipzig have reportedly smashed their club record to sign Lois Openda from Lens.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims the deal for the Belgian striker totals around £35m including add-ons, with Openda signing a five-year deal in Germany.

He will be tasked with replacing the departed Christopher Nkunku, who joined Chelsea in a £52m switch earlier this month.

Stam support

Jaap Stam has sent a heartfelt message to countryman and fellow Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar.

Van der Sar, 52, is understood to no longer be in life-threatening danger but remains in intensive care after suffering a brain haemorrhage on holiday in Croatia.

Stam, who played alongside the goalkeeper for the Netherlands, told United's website: "We all send our love to Edwin. 

"We know him very well and it's always shocking to hear that things like this are happening now.

"Edwin has always been very sporty, you know, and he always exercises a lot. So you don't expect this to happen to a former player, and a former team-mate.

"We wish him all the love and we wish all the best to him and his family. Hopefully, he is going to recover well and he's going to be staying safe."

Moyes backs Ange

David Moyes believes Tottenham have struck gold with new boss Ange Postecoglou.

The 57-year-old Aussie will kick off his first pre-season at Spurs with a homecoming clash, taking on Moyes' West Ham in Perth next Tuesday.

And the Hammers' Glaswegian coach has offered a ringing endorsement of his opposite number, who he has a strong relationship with from previous meetings.

Moyes said: "Ange is very good. I was fortunate when I was manager of Manchester United, I played against Ange out here in Melbourne. That was the first time we met.

"We also played Celtic two years ago up at Celtic Park, and I met him there again.

"I’m looking forward to seeing him. I have to say, he sent me a great message after we won the Europa Conference League final.

"He did a remarkable job with Celtic this year, winning the treble. It really was. And I think Tottenham will get a really good manager.

"He's proved himself in a few countries — but obviously now, he's in among the sharks. It will not be easy."

Another week in Wrexham

Elliot Lee admits he and his Wrexham team-mates are getting used to surreal experiences ahead of their pre-season tour of America.

The Red Dragons will prepare for their maiden campaign back in the Football League with a glamorous trip Stateside, where friendlies with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are scheduled.

It is not exactly a standard approach for a fourth-tier outfit but forward Lee, 28, knows the Hollywood-owned club do things their own way.

He explained: "This is what we do. Sometimes we just laugh because it is incredible the stuff that happens at this club. 

"I don't think any of us dreamed about doing stuff like this.

"You don't need a bigger carrot than the celebrations we had after we won the National League. We had the best celebrations ever, then we went to Vegas.

"If the lads needed an incentive to have a good season, then we already have it. "
