- Sixandahalf to win the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle
- Fact To File to win the Ryanair Chase
- Win Some Lose Some to win the Pertemps
The action continues from the 2025 Cheltenham Festival on Thursday afternoon and it looks like another cracking day of action after two fantastic days at Prestbury Park already this week.
We’ve picked out the key talking points for each race and included our best bets for all seven races.
Ryanair Mares' Novices' Hurdle - Cheltenham 1.20, March 13th
Key Talking Points: Will Cromwell get favourite backers off to a flyer?
&w=707&quality=100)
Favourite backers will be hoping that Gavin Cromwell’s Sixandahalf can get them off to a flyer on day three.
Ryanair Mares' Novices' Hurdle Best Bet: Sixandahalf @ 11/4
Sixandahalf may be favourite but there is an argument to say she should be even shorter in the market. She could hardly have been much more impressive on her debut in this sphere and she brings some smart Flat form to the table too.
Jack Richards Novices' Limited Handicap Chase - Cheltenham 2.00, March 13th
Key Talking Points: Can the Irish continue their domination even though it’s a handicap?
The conditions of this race have changed to a handicap this season and the race looks wide open as a result.
Jack Richards Novices' Limited Handicap Chase Best Bet: Answer To Kayf @ 17/2
A mark of 145 looks workable for Answer To Kayf who bolted up at Naas last time on handicap debut having run with plenty of promise in novice company previously.
He was a well backed favourite at Naas, suggesting connections knew he was a long way ahead of his mark and he can continue his progression here.
Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle - Cheltenham 2.40, March 13th
&w=707&quality=100)
Key Talking Points: Which runners are ahead of their marks this year?
This race is always one of the trickiest puzzles of the whole week and finding the well handicapped runners is the key to success
Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle Best Bet: Win Some Lose Some @ 6/1
This is competitive but Win Some Lose Some was good value for the winning margin when landing a competitive handicap at Leopardstown and he may still be ahead of his revised mark.
Ryanair Chase - Cheltenham 3.20, March 13th
Key Talking Points: Will Fact To File relish the drop back in trip?
Last year’s Festival winner, Fact To File, could be a major player down at the intermediate trip.
Ryanair Chase Best Bet: Fact To File @ 6/5
Fact To File has been shaping like he will really relish a drop back down in distance having been outstayed by Galopin Des Champs in his last two runs at Leopardstown and he has the standout form in this year’s race.
Stayers' Hurdle - Cheltenham 4.00, March 13th
Key Talking Points: Has the ground gone for Teahupoo?
Teahupoo has been laid out for this race but will the ground be too quick for last year’s winner?
Stayers' Hurdle Best Bet: Bob Olinger @ 18/1
Course form is often a key factor for finding Cheltenham winners and given that Bob Olinger is three from three at this course (including two Grade 1 wins), he makes plenty of appeal as an each-way selection.
Handicap Chase - Cheltenham 4.40, March 13th
Key Talking Points: Is Jagwar a worthy favourite for this year’s renewal
Jagwar has been a big talking horse this season and the big question is whether he is well handicapped for this heat.
Handicap Chase Best Bet: Jagwar @ 7/2
The ground is a slight concern with Jagwar's best form coming on soft but he’s looked highly progressive this season and a 7lb rise for his latest success looks on the lenient side from the assessor.
Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Amateur Jockeys' Handicap Chase - Cheltenham 5.20, March 13th
Key Talking Points: Who is the amateur rider to follow in this year’s Kim Muir?
A good rider can be worth their weight in gold in races confined to amateurs and top amateur Patrick Mullins has a fascinating contender.
Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Amateur Jockeys' Handicap Chase Best Bet: Sa Majeste @ 15/2
Sa Majeste has been progressing nicely over fences so far this season and he arrives on the back of an impressive beginners’ success. The handicapper has been fair with his mark and he looks capable of giving Mullins another success in the finale.
