Weekend acca predictions: Five teams to follow across Europe

There is plenty of action across Europe's top divisions this weekend and we have picked out a fivefold acca featuring games from the Eredivisie, Ligue 1 and LaLiga, which pays out at 60/1.

Bet 1: Back Nijmegen to beat Excelsior Rotterdam at 10/21

NEC Nijmegen did some smart business in the summer, bringing in a number of players to boost a squad that lost a couple of key contributors from last season.

Overall, there is more strength in depth there now and potentially a very solid spine to the team. 

They can get their campaign off to the best possible start against an Excelsior side that appear to have changed very little in the offseason.

After winning at a Cambuur side destined for the drop, the Rotterdam went on to lose 13 of their subsequent 16 away games last season and are expected to face similar struggles on the road this term.

Bet 2: Back AZ Alkmaar to beat Go Ahead Eagles at 5/16

AZ played Andorran minnows Santa Coloma in the Europa Conference League qualifiers on Thursday and only managed a 1-0 away win, which should elicit some sort of reaction this weekend.

Pascal Jansen's side finished strongly to claim fourth place and end up only two points behind Ajax last term and would appear to have a bright future after their academy kids claimed the Uefa Youth League title.

Despite a mediocre midweek showing, the Cheeseherads should have enough quality and determination to see off the visiting Eagles, who lost eight of their final ten away games last season.

Bet 3: Back Toulouse to beat Nantes at 17/10

This is a repeat of last season's Coupe de France Final which Toulouse won emphatically, 5-1, at Saint-Denis. 

And, given how well Les Violets played that day and in subsequent league games, it seems strange that they are not rated favourites to win at the Stade de la Beaujoire.

Les Canaris avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth and appear to have been weakened over the summer by the departures of regular goalscorer Ludovic Blas and key midfield cog Andrei Girotto.

The crowd could get on the players' backs if things begin badly for the home side and Toulouse, who beat Roma in a friendly last week, look the play in this difficult spot.

Bet 4: Back Montpellier to beat Le Havre at 19/20

Montpellier have plenty of quality in their forward line with veterans Teji Savanier and Wahbi Khazri providing the bullets for exciting youngster Elye Wahi.

The hosts should run out winners against a Le Havre side that will be adjusting to life back in the top flight and have been losing regularly in pre-season.

Bet 5: Back Getafe to beat Barcelona at 5/1

And finally, how about a high-profile upset on matchday one of the new LaLiga campaign? 

Lowly Getafe beating the reigning champions may not be as silly as it sounds with Xavi Hernandez's team going to a ground where they have not been able to win or score in recent years.

Barca have drawn a blank at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on their last three visits, losing 1-0 there in 2020 before collecting 0-0 draws the past two years.

Getafe finished the last campaign with five wins, two draws and only one loss from their last eight home contests and can give the Catalan club, who lost three of their last four away trips in 2022-23 and look set to be without Ilkay Gundogan for this one, a fright.

Of course, if you are not as confident then reduce the acca to a fourfold.
