Manchester City are set to open talks with England international Phil Foden over a new contract.

Foden, 23, has been in the form of his life this season and is playing a key role as City look to claim a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

And according to Football Insider, the Stockport-born star is demanding a huge bump on his current deal that would make him one of the club's top earners.

Foden only signed a contract extension in 2022, extending his terms at the Etihad until 2027 on a reported £200,000 a week.

But since then, the 31-cap international has become one of Pep Guardiola's most important players and was instrumental in their Treble triumph last term.

Guardiola recently claimed Foden is currently the "best player in the Premier League right now", which will only strengthen his argument for better terms.

In his seven-year stint with the champions, Foden has made over 250 appearances and won 12 major trophies.

Though he is unlikely to ever push hard for an exit from his boyhood club, any breakdown in talks would surely put Europe's biggest clubs on red alaert.
