Ange Postecoglou has made a solid start since taking over as Tottenham boss

- Tottenham have won seven of their ten home league games this term
- Both teams have scored in eight of Spurs’ 10 home league fixtures
- Recommended bet: Tottenham to win & both teams to score

Tottenham remain bang in in the mix for a top four finish in the Premier League and home comforts should help them claim maximum points at the expense of London rivals Brentford.

Spurs are still missing some of their leading lights, with captain Heung-Min Son and midfield maestro Yves Bissouma away on international duty, yet they continue to hold their form well.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have lost only one of their last six league games and they have excelled on their own patch, recording seven victories from their ten top-flight fixtures.

Brentford, on the other hand, still have work to do before they are at complete rest with their lowly league position.

The Bees have talisman Ivan Toney back leading their line but they have struggled away from the Gtech Community Stadium, losing six of their nine road trips.

Tottenham have Son and Bissouma missing due to their international commitments and, although Pape Sarr is set to return from the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal having been knocked out of the competition, this fixture may come too soon.

Alejo Veliz, Manor Solomon and Giovani Lo Celso are sidelined through injury but creative influence James Maddison is back pushing for a start.

Brentford also have a raft of players away on international duty, with Yoane Wissa, Saman Ghoddos and Frank Onyeka among those missing.

Elsewhere, Sergio Reguilon is ineligible to face his parent club and Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Bryan Mbeumo, Christian Norgaard and Kevin Schade are ruled out.

The stats

Tottenham have been triumphant in seven of their ten home league matches this season, although both teams have netted in eight of those fixtures.

Both sides have scored in the last three league rivalries between this pair, with each meeting featuring exactly four goals.

Brentford have lost six of their nine away league matches this season and have endured four defeats in a row on their travels.

The Bees are without a clean sheet in 12 and both teams have scored in six of their last seven league matches.

Richarlison has scored six goals in his last six Premier League appearances and that includes netting in Tottenham’s last three home league games.

Prediction

Having won three home league matches in a row against Newcastle, Everton and Bournemouth, Tottenham should be licking their lips at the prospect of facing a travel-sick Brentford.

Spurs have barely put a foot wrong at home this season, winning seven of their ten home league games, whereas the Bees have been below par on their travels.

Brentford have lost their last four away league matches, which includes on trips to relegation-threatened duo Sheffield United and Crystal Palace, so they may struggle to contain Spurs’ attacking talents.

That said, Thomas Frank does have star man Toney back to bolster his frontline and they may be able to grab a consolation strike against a Tottenham defence that has conceded in eight of their ten home league outings.

Both teams have scored in eight of Brentford’s last nine matches in all competitions but they have come out second best in five of those fixtures and could be outclassed by top-four hopefuls Spurs.
