Rotherham have struggled to keep up with the pace in the Championship all season and things don’t look destined to get much better now that they have been relegated back to the third tier.

Leam Richardson’s side have struggled to score in recent matches and that is bad news for their visit to Swansea after the Welsh outfit eased their relegation worries with a 3-0 victory over Stoke last time out.

Team news

Swansea look set to be unchanged from the team who claimed a 3-0 win over Stoke last time out, which means Kyle Naughton, Joe Allen and Przemyslaw Placheta will again sit out.

Daniel Ayala and Jordan Hugill are out for the Millers, while Christ Tiehi, Tyler Blackett and Grant Hall also remain sidelined.

The stats

There have been at least three goals in nine of Rotherham's last 11 away matches.

Swansea have won three of their last four home games, although just one of their last 13 home matches has featured more than three goals.

Rotherham have lost 12 of their last 14 Championship games and have failed to score in seven of their last eight outings.

Prediction

While Rotherham know they will be playing in League One next season, the situation at the bottom of the Championship is tight and Swansea will want to ensure their status as quickly as possible.

Their 3-0 success over Stoke went a long way towards that and three points against the Millers on Saturday will guarantee their safety, which should ensure they do not take their eye off the ball.

The Swans have come good at the right time - they have won five and drawn two of their last 12 matches to give themselves just enough breathing space - and their recent home record suggests they should have too much for their relegated opponents.

Rotherham’s away record can only be described as woeful - they have not won any of their last 34 second-tier road matches - and it is difficult to be confident about a team who have nothing to play for and cannot wait for the season to be over.

The Millers have not scored in their last four matches on road, a run that includes 5-0 losses at playoff-chasing Coventry and Norwich and, boosted by their fine performance against the Potters, it looks likely that Swansea will extend that record and ensure their Championship survival in the process.

Backing the home team to win without conceding, which they have done four times on their own patch this season, looks the best way to go.
