Rotherham’s relegation from the Championship has looked all-but confirmed for a while now, but their fate will be officially sealed on Monday should they lose to Millwall, a scenario which looks to have a real possibility of playing out.

The Millers’ winless run now stands at 16 games and dates back to Boxing Day, so it would be a huge shock to see them suddenly gain three points, especially against a resurgent Lions side who are far from safe themselves.

Team news

Andre Green and Grant Hall will miss out through injury for the Millers, whose manager Leam Richardson will likely ring the changes as he looks to give as many players chances before the end of a miserable campaign.

Kevin Nisbet should be the Lions’ only absentee and Neil Harris could name an unchanged XI from the side that drew 1-1 with West Brom on Good Friday.

The stats

It has been a dismal season for Leam Richardson's Rotherham

Millwall are unbeaten in their last six meetings with the Millers.

The Lions have won four games in that run, all to nil.

Rotherham have taken just one point from their last 33 available.

Millwall have lost just one of their last six matches.

The Millers’ 16-game winless run dates back to Boxing Day.

Rotherham have failed to score in five consecutive matches.

Prediction

Millwall have improved markedly since reappointing Neil Harris as their manager, with the former Cambridge boss leading them to three wins and two draws in his six games in charge.

The Lions now have a real chance of staying up having opened a five-point cushion between themselves and Huddersfield in 22nd.

Luckily for Harris and his side, the omens are in Millwall’s favour as they take on by far the league’s worst side on Monday, with their hosts having taken just one point from their last 33 available and sitting on just 20 total at the foot of the table.

The Lions have dominated this fixture recently too, avoiding defeat in six consecutive meetings with the Millers and keeping a clean sheet in all four of their victories in that run.

With that record in mind, Millwall should be feeling confident they can earn all three points at the New York Stadium and condemn their hosts to relegation in the process.

Rotherham have failed to score in their last five games and managed just one shot on target in the reverse fixture, suggesting they may struggle to even land a blow as they go down without a fight.
