Uttoxeter hosts an eight-race card on Wednesday

Uttoxeter host a busy eight-race card on Wednesday afternoon.

The action begins at 1.20pm and runs all the way through to 5.20pm.

The going is described as 'Good' ahead of the meeting but showers have been forecast.

Both Nicky Henderson and local trainer Dan Skelton have strong chances on the card and we have selected five horses to follow.

1.20pm - Sky Sports Racing HD Virgin 535 Mares' Novices' Hurdle (1m7f)

GINGER DU VAL was successful twice in bumpers but she is still searching for her maiden win over hurdles.

It could come in this novice contest against her own sex as she sets the standard.

Mel Rowley's runner finished second of nine runners at Worcester (2m) last month. That looked a more suitable distance for the mare and she can go one place better on her latest attempt at this trip.

LiveScore Selection: Ginger Du Val

1.55pm - Read Hollie Doyle's Column On attheraces.com Maiden Hurdle (2m4f)

Two-time Flat winner PERCY'S WORD has shown enough to suggest his first win over hurdles is not far away.

He has finished second on four occasions since moving to Dan Skelton's yard.

The seven-year-old is taking a big step up in trip and it should suit him. He has shaped like further distance will not be a problem for him and he is the one to beat in this race.

LiveScore Selection: Percy's Word

3.05pm Ken Boulton Memorial Handicap Hurdle (2m7f)

Former Champion Trainer Nicky Henderson sends just two horses to Uttoxeter for this meeting and one of them is JEN'S BOY

He can ensure it is a successful day for the Seven Barrows team with victory in this class five handicap hurdle.

The C&D winner has been running consistently well over fences over the last 12 months without success.

He is back to hurdles now where if he produces his old form, he is off a mark which gives him a great chance of getting back to winning ways.

LiveScore Selection: Jen's Boy

3.40pm - Follow At The Races On Twitter Handicap Chase (2m4f)

Both of YCCS PORTOCERVO's two victories over fences have come over this C&D and a third looks set to follow.

This six-year-old chaser may not have finished improving.

He has been given a 3lb rise in the weights but he can defy that here with Dr Richard Newland's runner likely to make the running once again.

Sam Twiston-Davies knows the horse very well so he will set a sensible pace. He may not be passed at any stage in this race.

4.15pm - Visit attheraces.com/marketmovers Novices' Handicap Hurdle (2m3f)

ALRAMZ produced a career best to prevail at Newton Abbot (2m2½f) last month.

He finished that race really strongly to score by over four lengths.

Unsurprisingly, he has gone up 8lb for that win, which seems quite fair. The five-year-old can follow up as there looks likely to be more to come from this gelding from Sue Gardner's yard.

There should be a strong pace in the contest and he can benefit from that.

LiveScore Selection: Alramz
