Marti Cifuentes has QPR climbing away from relegation danger

- QPR have lost only one of their last eight matches
- No Championship side has scored fewer away goals than Sheffield Wednesday this season
- Recommended bet: QPR to win

QPR have eased their relegation fears with back-to-back wins over Birmingham and Swansea, but the Hoops still need to pick up points to be sure of Championship football next season.

The outlook is bleak for Sheffield Wednesday, who are two points off safety and are running out of time to save their second-tier status.

Team news

Taylor Richards remains out for QPR, but the Hoops have an otherwise fully fit squad to pick from.

Wednesday are boosted by the return of Josh Windass, Callum Patterson and Di'Shon Bernard, but Kristian Pedersen and Juan Delgado are on the sidelines.

The stats

QPR have lost only one of their last eight matches.

No Championship side has scored fewer than the ten away goals Sheffield Wednesday have managed this season.

Sheffield Wednesday have conceded 22 goals in their last eight all-competition away matches.

Both sides have found the net in eight of QPR’s last ten home games.

QPR have lost only two of their last eight matches against Sheffield Wednesday.

Prediction

Marti Cifuentes has done a fantastic job taking QPR from a side that looked to be heading for League One to a team that is progressing up the Championship table and has lost only one of their last eight games.

Cifuentes has lost only nine of the 29 matches since he took charge in Shepherd’s Bush, and while the Spanard has done an excellent job, the former Hammarby boss was helped in the transfer window.

Lucas Andersen, Michael Frey, Isaac Hayden and Joe Hodge were all added to the squad in January and that quartet added quality, experience and numbers to what was a pretty thin roster.

Rangers have won five of their last eight Championship games, they have lost only one of those and they have beaten high-flying Leicester on that impressive run.

Sheffield Wednesday are another side that have improved for a change of manager, but the away form of the Owls is a major concern.

Danny Rohl’s men have won only four of their 20 away Championship matches this term, they have hit only ten goals and allowed 40 at the other end.

That record doesn’t appear ideal, when Wednesday head to Loftus Road to face a progressive and confident QPR side and the Hoops look good value to see off the challenge of the Owls.
