Scotland's George Munsey is just 77 runs short of 2,000 in this format.

- Scotland’s opening pair put on 90 unbeaten against England
- Namibia’s openers have failed to put together a partnership of more than five in their last four games
- Recommended bet: Scotland highest opening partnership

Scotland will have felt aggrieved by their first game of the T20 World Cup being rained off, as they were really challenging England.

The Scottish opening partnership of George Munsey and Michael Jones managed to smash 90 unbeaten runs in the first ten overs to set up a potential chance to bowl out their rivals in 60 balls, but the weather intervened.

Richie Berrington’s side will be looking for immediate compensation when they face Namibia, who needed a Super Over to get the better of Oman in a low-scoring opener.

The African side have won all three head-to-heads between these two teams in this format but Scotland are not to be underestimated, particularly if they build on their impressive start in their game against England.

Namibia will need to be better than they were against Oman in a game that looks set to be closely contested and is priced up accordingly.

Team news

Namibia have no injury issues so are likely to put out a similar team to the one that beat Oman, while Scotland are also liable to have a similar line-up to the one from their game against England.

The fact that only two of their players featured due the poor weather means that they shouldl be fresher.

The stats

Scotland’s George Munsey has made two T20I centuries and 11 scores of fifty or above across 65 innings.

Munsey is also just 77 runs short of 2,000 in this format.

Namibia wicketkeeper Zane Green has been struggling recently, he has only had a knock of above 25 in three of his 38 T20I innings.

Ruben Trumpelmann took 4/21 in Namibia’s opener but was eclipsed by David Wiese’s 3/28 and helped his side make 21 in the Super Over.

Prediction

Scotland’s openers made a serious impression in their rain-shortened game against England, making 90 without losing a wicket against the defending champions’ top bowlers.

George Munsey in particular put on a show with a range of sweeps and could be crucial to his team’s success in this clash.

Namibia’s openers on the other hand have struggled recently, failing to make more than five between them in their last four outings, three of which have come against Oman, Papua New Guinea and Uganda.

Michael van Lingen has struggled recently, with no score above 10 in his last six outings.

This market is priced up as though there is nothing between the two, but Scotland seem to have the clear advantage, side with them to record the highest opening partnership.
