Millwall vs Leicester predictions: Foxes title charge to be stalled

The Championship title race looks increasingly certain to go down to the wire and another potential twist to the enthralling tale at the top of the table could be on the cards when leaders Leicester travel to Millwall on Tuesday.

The Foxes returned to the top of the table thanks to a 2-1 weekend win at home to Birmingham, with both Ipswich and Leeds slipping up to leave Leicester well placed with a game in hand of their two title rivals.

Team news

Millwall boss Neil Harris has a trio of players expected to be out through injury, with defenders Joe Bryan and Murray Wallace and striker Kevin Nisbet unlikely to return to full fitness until the end of the month.

After losing 1-0 at fellow relegation candidates Huddersfield at the weekend, Harris may be tempted to tinker with his starting XI, with the likes of Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Casper De Norre vying to feature from the off after making cameo appearances from the bench on Saturday.

Enzo Maresca will also be without three first team squad members for Tuesday night’s battle, with Ben Nelson, Kasey McAteer and Tom Cannon all missing out - although the latter is not far away from being available for selection.

After grabbing the match-winning assist from the bench against Birmingham at the weekend, Turkish midfielder Yunus Akgun could be in line to start at The Den, while the scorer of the winning goal, Stephy Mavididi, will be expected to keep his place on the left wing.

Millwall are on their longest unbeaten streak at home since December, however, the Lions are on a four-game winless run, losing three.

This is the third time that these two clubs have faced each other this season, with Leicester winning the reverse fixture and their FA Cup encounter by the same 3-2 scoreline.

The Foxes are winless in three away games in all competitions, despite scoring four goals during this run.

Prediction

Leicester’s poor form across February and March allowed both Ipswich and Leeds into the title picture and the Foxes could be in danger of handing the initiative back to the trailing duo when they face a Millwall side who have proved difficult to beat at home in recent weeks.

The Lions have registered two victories and a draw across their last three in front of their own fans, earning a point against play-off chasing West Brom, as well as taking all three points against Birmingham and Watford.

Leicester may have returned to the summit of the Championship thanks to consecutive home wins over Norwich and Birmingham, but their form on the road leaves much to be desired, winning just one of their last four away league matches.

This poor form could open the door for Millwall to cause more shockwaves in the ever-changing title race and coming away with at least a point could be more than achievable for Neil Harris’ men.
