- Manchester United have not won by more than a single goal since September
- Luton have only lost one of their last 11 games by more than one goal
- Recommended bet: Luton +2

Manchester United saw their hopes of Champions League progression dealt a huge blow as they lost in Copenhagen on Wednesday and they could find the going tough at home to an improving Luton Town outfit on Saturday.

The Hatters came within a hair of beating Liverpool last weekend and their improvement over the last few weeks has seen them move out of the Premier League relegation zone.

Team news

Jonny Evans was forced off for  United in the first half against Copenhagen and is likely to be replaced by Raphael Varane, while Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro, Luke Shaw and Amad Diallo all remain sidelined for the Red Devils.

Luton could name an unchanged starting line-up from the side that performed well against Liverpool last time out, with Dan Potts, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Mads Andersen and Reece Burke all out injured and Amari’i Bell a doubt.

The stats

Manchester United have not won by more than a single goal since September, while Luton have only lost one of their last 11 games by more than one goal.

The Red Devils are yet to win a Premier League game this season by more than a one-goal margin.

Luton have taken points from two of their last three Premier League assignments.

Manchester United have lost three of their last four Premier League home games

Prediction

Manchester United threw away a two-goal lead to lose 4-3 in Copenhagen on Wednesday, dealing their Champions League aspirations a potentially fatal blow and leaving them looking back on three defeats in their last four games in all competitions.

White the Red Devils have won eight of their 17 competitive matches this season, they have rarely looked good value for their wins and Luton can at least push them close on Saturday after a confidence-boosting result against Liverpool last week.

The Hatters came within moments of beating the Reds last weekend and have only lost three of their last seven Premier League matches, lifting them out of the relegation zone and providing their supporters with some hope.

Despite being hot favourites for the drop in the pre-season relegation markets, Luton have rarely been overwhelmed. They have only lost by more than a single goal in three of their 11 top-flight outings and in one of their last 11 matches in all competitions.

That puts them in good stead when they face a United side who have only won by two clear goals once in 17 assignments this season, with that result coming against a weakened Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.
