Liverpool's title push was hit hard by last Sunday's 3-1 defeat at Arsenal but they will be confident of getting back on track when they host struggling Burnley on Saturday.

Defensive errors cost the Reds at the Emirates but they are unlikely to come under the same pressure against the Clarets, who have failed to win their last six in all competitions.

Liverpool's loss at the Emirates was their first domestic defeat since September but with a fine record at Anfield to protect, Jurgen Klopp's side could be ready to strike back with a vengeance.

Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate will miss the match following his red card against Arsenal but Wataru Endo could return after Japan's elimination from the Asian Cup. 

Dominik Szoboszlai will be assessed after a hamstring injury sidelined him for the game at the Emirates, while Mohamed Salah is still struggling with the hamstring issue he suffered at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Burnley striker David Datro Fofana could be handed a start after scoring twice off the bench as the Clarets came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Fulham last Saturday.

Luca Koleosho (knee) and Nathan Redmond (unspecified) are long-term absentees, but Vincent Kompany might have Charlie Taylor, Hannes Delcroix and Jordan Beyer to call upon.

Liverpool are unbeaten in 26 competitive games at home in all competitions. They have the best home record in this season's Premier League, with their last home defeat in the league coming against Leeds in October 2022.

Both teams have scored in the Reds' last six at home in all competitions, while five of those matches have featured over 2.5 goals.

Burnley have won twice away from home in the league this season, beating Luton and Fulham. That is an improvement on their home form, with them winning just once at Turf Moor this term.

Both teams have scored in four of the Clarets' last four league matches and over 3.5 goals have occurred in three of those outings.

Predictions 

After beating Norwich 5-2 and then Chelsea 4-1, Liverpool looked off the pace at the Emirates and perhaps the emotional journey they have been on since Klopp's announcement that he will step down in the summer may have caught up with them.

With the best part of a week off to recover and regroup heading into Saturday's game, the Reds should be ready to go again.

Manchester City's win at Brentford on Monday moved them within two points of the Reds and they could go top of the table, although a win in this fixture will see the Anfield outfit go back above their rivals. Arsenal, who play West Ham on Sunday, could also finish the weekend top of the table.

Whether Klopp will make his team aware of City's result before kick-off remains to be seen, but either way, the hosts should have too much for the Clarets.

Burnley have scored in their visits to the other sides who currently sit in the top four – Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City – and could do so again, but the points are likely to stay on Merseyside.
