Hermoso back for Spain

Jenni Hermoso has been named in the Spain squad for the first time since winning the Women's World Cup.

Hermoso found herself at the centre of a controversy after Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales kissed her during the World Cup trophy presentation, which the forward says was not consensual.

Rubiales eventually resigned from his role following a public outcry and he was given a restraining order.

La Roja's first ever World Cup success was overshadowed by the incident in the aftermath of the win over England in Australia, with manager Jorge Vilda sacked as a result.

Spain are set to face Italy and Switzerland in the Nations League later this month.

London calling

December's Women's Super League clash between Tottenham and Arsenal will now take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Another record WSL crowd will be in sight as the North London foes face off in Spurs' 62,850-capacity arena on December 13 after the fixture was moved from Brisbane Road.

The Gunners currently hold the record attendance in England's women's top flight, with 54,115 having watched their opening-day defeat to Liverpool earlier this month.

Tottenham are currently flying high in fourth after two wins from their first three games, while Arsenal earned their first three points of the season with a last-gasp win over Aston Villa last Sunday.

Neymar injury fears

A tearful Neymar was stretchered off in Brazil's 2-0 defeat to Uruguay after suffering what appeared to be a serious knee injury.

The 31-year-old, who joined Saudi side Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, landed awkwardly after challenging Nicolas de la Cruz for the ball in the first half.

Brazil captain Casemiro said: "Let's hope it's nothing serious.

"He's an important player for us, we're very fond of him. He's been suffering a lot from injuries and when he starts to pick up the pace he gets injured again."

Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez scored Uruguay's first goal with a header before setting up De la Cruz for the second to secure La Celeste's first win over Brazil since 2001.

Maguire slams boo boys

Harry Maguire has slammed supporters who booed England team-mate Jordan Henderson

Harry Maguire has hit out at the England supporters who booed Jordan Henderson during the international break, insisting "proper fans don't boo players".

Henderson was booed when he was substituted during the Three Lions' 1-0 win over Australia, while similar jeers were head from sections of the Wembley crowd when he entered the fray versus Italy last night.

The midfielder has been criticised for his move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq this summer, having previously been a high-profile ally of the LGBTQ+ community.

Maguire, who has also been booed by England and Manchester United supporters in the past, said: "Proper England fans don't boo players.

"Don't boo players who dedicate their life to play and do everything they can to make this country have good memories and have special moments for them and their families."

In for the Phil

Kalvin Phillips started in England's win over Italy

Kalvin Phillips admits he will "have a decision to make" over his future at Manchester City.

Midfielder Phillips has struggled to break into City's team since joining in the summer of 2022, making just three substitute appearances in the Premier League this term.

After starting in England's 3-1 over Italy last night, the 27-year-old said: "I know that I need to be playing games and competing every weekend.

"I'm going to have to make a decision on [my future] over the next months."

The former Leeds ace's continued selection in Gareth Southgate's side has been questioned and Phillips knows he will have to start playing regularly for his club to keep his place in the national team.

He added: "He [Gareth Southgate] just says that for me to keep my spot I have to be playing games.

"That's what I want to do. I have agreed with Gareth on that."
